O grupo começou com três integrantes e por divergências de ideias Duckjay seguiu sozinho e produziu a música "Entre a vida e a morte", que acabou por se tornar uma das mais executadas nas rádios comunitárias de Planaltina-Df.

A convite de Duckjay, o Dj Bolatribo passou a integrar o grupo nas apresentações ao vivo. Com produção e direção musical de Duckjay foi lançado o primeiro álbum do grupo "O verdadeiro brasileiro". Em 2005, a música "Carro de Malandro" virou hit. E em 2006 foi citada pelo Correio Braziliense como a música mais executada do ano no Distrito Federal.

Com o sucesso e reconhecimento nacional, o Tribo da Periferia tornou-se atração principal em eventos reconhecidos, ao lado de nomes como Racionais Mc's, Realidade Cruel, Facção Central, entre outros.

Com o passar dos anos singles como "Marciano", "Colombiano", "Ela tá virada" e "Sem esparrar", repercutiram além do gênero Rap e passaram a tocar não só nas periferias, mas também em bairros nobres de todo país. O grupo passou a ser atração principal em eventos, ao lado de grandes nomes da música brasileira como Charlie Brown Jr, Planta e Raiz, Emicida e outros, tomando projeção nacional e inovando a cena atual.

Em 2014 e com o lançamento do quinto álbum, o single "Valores", "Viva Comum", "Insônia", "Tipo Escobar" e "Não vale a pena ficar louco de problema" ecoam pelas ruas e rádios de todo o Brasil mostrando que o Tribo da Periferia está além der ser apenas um ícone do gênero Rap, mas um nome que está registrando sua marca na história da música.
