Truth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Seen em off a caliber
You battled with the squad?
Don't joke on us
You choking up
I’d leave you in the fog
The grass you smoked
Is really smog
You talking crazy
All for god
Manage
All your cornered up
Depletion with the charm
Aint that lucky padawan
We was smoking all the Ganj
Left off on a high note
Just don’t drive crazy for once
They’re lurking out
You’re watching
All the blinding lights
Unfold
Then all them fuckers left the road
Tell em Ayce
Said we left it off the road
Tell em Ayce
Ayce
VV2 that's a fact
Thought was fact then we killed it like that
Took em back
Take em back
Take em back back
Way back into time
Talking about B.C.
Not A.D.
These bars is off the T-O-P
And I hope you feel me
It's T.y The Truth
Ayce
Vice Versa 2
Coming back at y'all one time
We figured we'd drop twice in a year
Just to give y'all a taste of what the fuck we do when we touch down
Oh yeah
My niggas don’t care about some bipartisan politics
Just a bisexual bitch that’s pussy poppin' it
I kill this cock sucking cop
Ima get a life sentence
He kill me he just might fuck around and get suspended
This the shit make my niggas live rebellious and get reckless
Fuck 5.0
Fuck 12 fuck the pigs and yo consensus
It’s a simple issue dog
You either wit us or against us
And if u ain’t yo opinion matters not and ya suggestions
I ain’t got the answers
I’d be lying if I said I did
I ain’t even black I’m a light skinned Dominican
So I’m fully aware
That if they don’t stare
And if they don’t care
Shit I might just blend right in
You take one look at me and you’d notice my black features
My wide nose
My full lips
And my nappy hair
I'm proud of all that I am
I don’t care if ya don’t care
And if you proud too hold ya fist up in the air
Yeah
Never show fear
Let em know that we here
And we ain’t goin nowhere
Yeah
Fuck
I hate to stress and vent
But it’s some shit I gotta get off my chest

And I hope the world's better for my daughter
When I left

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Truth expresses a sense of confidence and superiority over others. He mentions encountering someone with a caliber weapon and challenges them to a battle with his squad. He warns them not to take it lightly, as he is capable of leaving them confused and lost in the fog. He also criticizes the quality of the grass someone smoked, suggesting that it was actually harmful smog.

The lyrics then take a shift towards addressing external influences and societal issues. Truth accuses others of speaking crazily for God, suggesting that they may be misrepresenting religious beliefs. He goes on to mention being cornered up and experiencing depletion, but still managing to charm his way out of it. He also refers to smoking Ganj (marijuana) and leaving off on a high note, cautioning against driving recklessly. He speaks of others who were watching the blinding lights, but then abandoned their path. Ayce is mentioned, possibly referring to another artist or collaborator.

In the next part, Truth reflects on his own musical journey. He emphasizes the fact that his thoughts are factual and impactful, akin to taking listeners back in time. He mentions BC and AD, likely referring to historical periods. He asserts his identity as T.y The Truth and expresses the intention of releasing multiple projects in a year to showcase his talents. He also mentions not caring about political divisions, but rather focusing on enjoying the company of someone who is sexually open. He speaks of a violent encounter with a police officer and the consequences he may face. This leads him to express solidarity with his community, pledging allegiance to their cause and disregarding opposing opinions.

Truth then addresses matters of identity and pride. He acknowledges being light-skinned Dominican, but confidently asserts his black features such as a wide nose, full lips, and nappy hair. He takes pride in who he is and encourages others to do the same, raising a fist in the air as a symbol of empowerment. He voices a desire for a better world for his daughter, expressing his hope that the issues he addresses and the struggles he faces will ultimately lead to positive change for future generations.

[Verse 1]
I'm historically heartbroken
Drownin' in my own emotions
One minute away from the breakin' down, down, down
I'm always leavin' empty-handed
No one wants a heart that's damaged
Only know what love that lets me down, down, down

[Pre-Chorus]
No more starin' contest with the walls
I'm givin' in to my intrusive thoughts

[Chorus]
What if I never find anybody to love
Or I finally get the chance and I fuck it all up?
'Cause I can't get hurt if I'm the first one to leave, woah
What if I get to heaven and it's not even real
And I die before tellin' you how I really feel?
'Cause it feels like hell and I just can't help but think
That maybe love's not for me

[Verse 2]
If you don't look too closely
You can't even tell I'm lonely
Even though it keeps me up at night, night, night
I try to keep myself distracted
But I got all these awful habits
Of listenin' to voices in my mind, mind, mind

[Pre-Chorus]
No starin' contest with the walls
I'm givin' in to my intrusive thoughts, oh

[Chorus]
What if I never find anybody to love
Or I finally get the chance and I fuck it all up?
'Cause I can't get hurt if I'm the first one to leave, woah-oah, woah
What if I get to heaven and it's not even real
And I die before tellin' you how I really feel?
'Cause it feels like hell and I just can't help but think
Maybe love's not for me

[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh, maybe love's not for me, oh-oh-oh
Maybe love's not for me
Maybe love's not for me
For me, for me, for me
Maybe love's not for me
💔

I’m literally crying. This song speaks so much for the people who are fighting against themselves. It feels/seems like no one will stay besides us because even we can’t understand ourselves and no one can see that. Overthinking, depression and anxiety are really fucking us up 😭 I found comfort with this song! Thank you Natalie Jane for speaking up about how much we worry about if someone can even accept us.

@miszisaac405
