I would vote for this as the most underrated TØP song. A lot of the clique seems not to like it, but personally I think it's the most fun song to sing. 99% of the time when I'm in the shower, this is what I'm belting out.

Maybe a lot of people haven't heard Ruby or Isle of Flightless Birds, but of those who have, it seems most really like them. Meanwhile, I've come across a large percentage of fans who consider Not Today one of TØP's worst songs, which I strongly disagree with.

I’m rlly glad top was there for me when I was depressed I was just a 10 year old that was so not confident in myself and lonely and I listened to twenty pilots and I loved it and it helped me a lot and I got to go to one of there concerts and it was great I’m happy now and confident and very active now and I’m rlly proud of myself for a lot and I’m glad to revisit these songs now that I’m not depressed 🥲😁

For me this is one of the greatest songs twenty one pilots has ever done. This is RaB level incredible. Personally, I interpret the chorus as Blurryface saying "not today," as in, he's trying to tell Tyler he's not going to go out into the world but rather cut himself off like most people with depression and other mental illnesses do. Then Tyler tears the curtains down and opens his window, as an act of defiance. Then he tells Blurryface to "make a noise," almost taunting him bc his fears and insecurities have been defeated for that day.

B Trenton I've heard one interpretation that makes it out to be both of them saying the chorus. The higher register is Blurryface, and this is their final confrontation before Tyler's victory in the next song, Goner.

Not today is probably my favorite song right now because most of the lyrics are relatable in such a way that I feel ok for a while, and the lyrics that aren't like that is like tyler is talking to us in a way that you don't hear from many other people's music. Also, notice how Tyler almost never directly answers questions at interviews? Well maybe this is his way of trying to answer those questions, when Tyler does actually answer questions they can get really deep and I quess that's kind of the way he answers the questions with lyrics. Maybe he is scared to get too deep with answers in interviews. Also a line in lane boy kind of hints back to where I said that Tyler talks to us in his lyrics 'don't trust a perfect person, don't trust a song that's flawless.' This could possibly mean that he knows he writes his lyrics differently than others, but people who write perfect songs are fake. Or maybe I'm just crazy and that's all just stupid stuff my came up with.

Wow. What an awesome song! 😍 Twenty one pilots is so freaking underrated! They deserve much more then a few views (though they do have a lot) they deserve better then any band and this song is just one of their amazing masterpieces.
