Following releases on Cascine, Yellow Year Records, a collaboration with Australian singer-songwriter Sophie Lowe, and remixes for Dawn Richard and Ghostly International, the LA-based duo garnered a number one charting song on Hype Machine with ‘Jigoku Tengoku’ along with a national tour supporting Matt and Kim, and press support from NYLON, THE FADER, Stereogum, and OUT Magazine.
In 2017, TWINKIDS released their debut EP "Boys Love" on Om Records, with the EP title paying homage to the gay romance manga genre of the same name. “Boys Love” features the viral Spotify hit ‘Overdressed,’ which has amassed over 6 million plays.
In 2019 TWINKIDS released their second EP "Lizard House" with support from Billboard, Complex, and more. The duo returned in 2020 with ‘Feeling Small,’ a new single on Kitsuné Musique, and ‘The Bends,’ a collaboration with indietronica artist The Chain Gang of 1974.
2020 was a year of introspection, and TWINKIDS channeled their pain into pop songs about self-doubt in their third body of work, “Nobody Likes Me” (due out in April on Om Records). "Nobody Likes Me" is a seven-song journey through themes of self-loathing, self-esteem and self-love, and all the ugliness that comes with it. The album features the stand out first single ‘I Know,’ a song about coming to terms with a relationship that just isn’t working anymore.

Shouting harder
But we're growing farther apart
Feel so grown up but it doesn't add up
I liked you for your brash demeanor
But you got lost in your hard-earned dollar
Further, further
You said back in our bed room
I swear it's only me and you
But how can you love me and your future too?
How can you love me and your future too?
Remember eighteen?
The promise we could not keep?
We'd always trash talk
We'd keep each other's hearts locked
Remember eighteen?
The promise we could not keep?
We'd always trash talk
We'd keep each other's hearts locked
The day you left me
I grew older
I don't think about you much like I used to
Oh but somehow the bed's still shaped like you
I liked you for your eyes of wonder
The days are good but the nights are harder (nights are hardeR)
Are there times where
You still think of me too?
You said back in our bed room
I swear it's only me and you
But how can you love me and your future too?
How can you love me and your future too?
Remember eighteen?
The promise we could not keep?
We'd always trash talk
We'd keep each other's hearts locked
Eighteen
The lyrics of TwinKids' song "Eighteen" express the emotional distance and growing apart of a relationship that was once vibrant and full of promise. The opening lines, "Louder, louder, Shouting harder, But we're growing farther apart" suggest a desperate attempt to save the relationship, but ultimately realizing that their efforts are in vain. Despite feeling like adults and thinking they have it all figured out, the singer acknowledges that something doesn't add up and the relationship isn't what they thought it would be.
The second verse reflects on the initial attraction the singer had for their partner, liking them for their confident and assertive personality. However, over time, the partner becomes consumed by their pursuit of money, causing them to drift further apart. The lyrics "Guess we're falling apart" highlight the realization that the relationship is crumbling.
The chorus, "Remember eighteen? The promise we could not keep? We'd always trash talk, We'd keep each other's hearts locked" signifies the nostalgic longing for the past, when they were younger and believed their love would endure. They used to have a playful and affectionate dynamic, always teasing and protecting each other. But now, that promise seems unattainable, and the relationship feels like a distant memory.
The bridge reflects on the singer's growth and acceptance of the breakup. They admit to not thinking about their ex as much as they used to, but are still haunted by the remnants of the past, as represented by the bed that still holds the shape of their ex. The verses also touch upon the initial attraction the singer had for their ex's sense of wonder, but highlight the difficulty in coping with the nights without them.
Overall, the lyrics of "Eighteen" explore the longing for a lost love, the disappointment of growing apart, and the struggle to reconcile the past with the present.
