Shoot
Twisted Sister Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She looks so fine
Like champagne or wine
No one ever gets her
Oh ain't she cool
Plays us for fools
If we want to let her
Across the room she sees some buffoon
Blown away by her style
She goes out of her way so that she can play
And make him beg for a little while

She's gonna

Shoot 'em down, Shoot 'em down, Shoot 'em down,
Shoot 'em down, Shoot 'em down, Shoot 'em down,
Shoot 'em down to the ground

Like caviar
Or fine foreign car
He's a motivator
Dressed to the T's
They're down on their knees
He's a master baiter
He'll make 'em crawl for the hell of it all
He likes to see 'em cry
And then just for fun he'll say she's the one
And then he'll make her die

He's gonna

(REPEAT CHORUS)

They don't care about feelings
They were meant to be stepped on
And while one is healing
They go and step on another one

Now these people prey
On us every day
Some are bad, some badder
They think we're fools
So they make their own rules
It only gets us madder
Well they think they're hot
Well I say they're not
They shoot us down for fun
If they want to play
Then let's make 'em pay
Shoot them down with a fuckin' gun

We gotta

(REPEAT CHORUS 2X)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Twisted Sister's song Shoot 'Em Down describe two characters - a woman and a man - who enjoy manipulating and subjugating others. The woman is described as physically attractive and clever; she likes to flatter and beguile men, enjoying the feeling of power it gives her. The man is similarly described as being charming and charismatic; he takes pleasure in seeing others grovel and feel vulnerable. The lyrics paint a picture of people who are fundamentally cruel and lacking in empathy, willing to exploit and hurt others purely for their own entertainment.

The chorus of the song - "Shoot 'em down to the ground" - suggests that the only solution to dealing with these types of individuals is violence. The repeated use of the phrase "shoot 'em down" creates a sense of urgency and anger, emphasizing that these manipulative people need to be stopped at all costs.

Overall, the lyrics of Shoot 'Em Down convey a sense of frustration and powerlessness in the face of individuals who use and abuse others. The imagery of shooting these people down reflects a desire for revenge and justice, albeit in a violent and extreme form.

I remember back in highschool I'd be singing this song very quietly but still loud enough for a few people to hear.

I love how raw their riffs always sound. Twisted Sister and Motley Crue are the two hair metal bands that I would say fits in with real metal and is actually good. I mean this song is pure metal. Twisted Sister has always made me think of Megadeth in a lot of ways. Not that they sound alike, but both bands have the ability to write just really good riffs, and they always go balls to the wall on their solos, with actual character to them. Of course, both bands are different genres, but I'd say Twisted Sister is the Megadeth of their genre.

That's just the squeaky, weak voice of Dave Mustaine sounds just wretched in comparison with Dee Snider's powerful roar.

i think whole point of mustaine doing that voice is to be memorable amongst other voices
