Had to look in the mirror and smile
Yeah i loved it when you was around
Wanna pick my head up cause its down?
In the dark I'm not alone
In my head yeah i drown
Had to turn upside down just so they won't see the frown
I feel so dead inside can you like burry me now
I'm so lost in my mind i can't focus
I was so paranoid when i wrote this
If you know my pain then i got you floating
You don't got nowhere to go
You feel alone
You don't got nowhere to go
Had to turn upside down just so they won't see the frown
I feel so dead inside can you like burry me now
The lyrics of Two's song Broken Heart describe the pain of failed love and the inability to communicate with the person who was once loved. The opening lines set the scene of a calm hillside overlooking the harbor in the distance, and two people who have turned their backs on each other due to the pain of their love being broken. The lyrics then attest to the fact that there are no words left to be said, and that they both seem to be resigned to the end of their relationship. The lines, "who said I love you in front of the small church, listening to the old organ, and made a pledge," suggest that they once believed in their love and made a commitment to each other but now realize that it was a fantasy. They are perplexed by the urge to say goodbye, and it is unclear who wants to initiate it.
The second verse reveals a new season and setting, implying that time has passed without any real progress towards healing. They reflect on how the end of a love relationship invariably makes one want to turn back and see what could have been done differently, but it is too late now. The lyrics speak of no longer being able to love anyone anymore and also mention the sadness of some make-believe conversations that they were about to have. The phrase, "keep pretending as always" suggests that they are not ready to accept that their relationship is over. The chorus then repeats the title phrase 'broken heart'- a profound expression of the pain of lost love. The closing line reminisces about the time that was once full of youth and memories that are long gone now.
