On the album the bands do their own versions of tracks like “Who The Fuck” by PJ Harvey, “Baby Talk” by James Blood Ulmer among others. The CD is the perfect pairing of the dirty 60s influence free-jazz that the The Thing represents and the raw and minimalistic garage rock of Cato Salsa Experience. Most tracks on this album was recorded in one take only with no overdubs. Liner notes by their big fan Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth says it all:
"Is this superjazz? Does The Thing want to rock the fuck out?
Is Paal Nilssen a love machine? Do Cato & Bård rip the shit outta the guitar? When McPhee & Gustafsson intro guitar to “Louie, Louie” do you know it’s the best throwdown yet of that klassick since Black Flag? Does PJ Harvey rule and do these guys love her? Do we blast through hate? Mongezi Feza, man - total beautiful African sweet charge, can you drink this to the boss rock zone playlist? Does Alva Melin’s groove jam “The Nut” destroy yr mind b4 ignition to free life 4-ever? And will you thank the rock n roll gods for that love groove coda? Can you shout out James Blood Ulmer!? Can you shout out James Blood Ulmer rules supreme and heavy and these cats blow a masterful “Baby Talk”? Are you cramped? Can you find yr mind? Can you shake yr ass? Is it Nation Time!?
This CD answers all those questions and the answer resounds: YYYYYYYYYESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I shit you not."

Two Bands and a Legend Lyrics

Of cities I sat in alone
With poisonous hands let me touch them
I'll have your throne
You've learned every song of the charmer
You've tamed every beast in the sea
Bite marks have covered my armor
Wake up, the moon is gone, I know you're to blame
Well I watched you sink it to the depths of your lake
I knew the danger but I still said your name
Behold the dances of the snake
I know who started all the fires in this country
I will be counting every breath that you take
I knew the danger but I still let you touch me
Behold the dances of the snakes
Well if you got the magic and I got the moves
Then we'll see who will be hanging whom
Well if you got the magic and I got the moves
We'll see who will be hanging whom
Must you leave your broom at
The side of my bed, the side of my bed
I can't let, you do that
Cast spells on my head
Well if you got the magic then I got the moves
Then we'll see who wakes up next to whom
Well if you got the magic then I got the moves
Then we'll see who wakes up, then we'll see who wakes up
Wake up, the moon is gone and you're not to blame
But I still left you at the base of your stake
I knew the dangers but I left anyway
Behold the dances of the snake
Must you leave your broom at
The side of my bed, the side of my bed
I can't let you do that
Cast spells on my head
Must you leave your broom at
The side of my bed
I drank with the dungeon witch
Left my ring on her nightstand
I woke with the dungeon witch
And now she's got the upper hand
I drank with the dungeon witch
Left my ring on her nightstand
I woke with the dungeon witch
And now she's got the upper hand
The Witch by Two Bands and a Legend is a song that seems to be about a love affair with a witch, and the danger and destruction that comes along with it. The song starts with the singer addressing the high priestess, who is known for her power and destruction. He is alone in a city, and wants her to touch him with her poisonous hands so that he can have her throne. He then talks about how she has tamed every beast in the sea, and how he has been bitten by her. The moon is gone, and he blames her for sinking it to the depths of her lake. Despite the danger, he cannot resist her, and he talks about the dances of the snake, which could be a metaphor for the seductive nature of the witch.
The next verse is more confrontational, with the singer talking about how he knows that she started all the fires in the country, and that he will be counting every breath she takes. He also talks about how even though he knew the dangers of being with her, he still let her touch him. The song then turns into a challenge for the two of them, with him asking if she has the magic and he has the moves, who will end up hanging whom. The song ends with him talking about how he woke up with the dungeon witch, and how now she has the upper hand.
