Before forming Two Tongues, Max Bemis, Chris Conley and Coby Linder had previously collaborated on a cover song of Bob Dylan's "The Man In Me" for the compilation album Paupers, Peasants, Princes & Kings: The Songs of Bob Dylan, released by Doghouse Records in 2006. After the successful collaboration, Bemis asked Conley about potentially doing an album together, to which Conley responded positively by saying "I would do it with no one else, nothing could be more epic!”
Thus, Two Tongues was born.

Back against the wall
I knew we would make it
Yeah we could have it all
I told you before boy
You know I like your style
And I ain't going nowhere
Alright
Alright
Come on
Alright
Alright, come on
Alright
Come on
You're all that I wanted
But you just don't care
And now that we parted
I need to feel you here
The blood and the blister
Yeah we were set to burst
I'm forever within you
You know it could be worse
Come on
Alright
Come on
Alright
Alright, come on
Alright
Come on
Alright
Come on
Alright, come on
Alright
Alright
Alright, come on
Alright
Come on
Alright
Alright, come on
Alright
Come on
Alright
Alright, come on
The song "Back Against The Wall" by Two Tongues portrays the feelings of love and wanting someone who doesn't reciprocate the same feelings. In the first verse, the singer describes the first time they saw this person with their "back against the wall" and knew that they wanted to be with them. The singer even states that they "could have it all" with this person. The chorus is a repeating encouragement to continue, even with the difficulties that come with the relationship. The second verse suggests that the relationship has ended, but the singer still longs for this person. The line "I need to feel you here" exemplifies the desperation the singer feels. The song concludes with a final chorus that repeats the previous encouragement to continue, despite the difficult nature of the relationship.
The lyrics involve a strong element of desire and persistence, exemplifying the complicated nature of love. The backdrop of the "back against the wall" is compelling, indicating that the singer may be fighting against external factors, trying to achieve a difficult love. The repetition of the phrase "alright, come on" indicates a sort of rallying, despite setbacks or negative feelings. The song ends on this phrase as well, creating a sense of persistence and endurance.
