The son of a musician from Lakeside, Ty Dolla $ign originally began his career in music by learning the bass guitar. Since then, he has learned several instruments, from the drums, guitars, and keyboard to the MPC. Earlier in his career, Ty Dolla $ign and his partner Kory signed a record deal with Venus Brown and Buddah Brown Ent. They would release Raw & Bangin Mixtape Vol 2, however that deal fell through, and after that he would meet Los Angeles rapper YG. In 2011, Ty Dolla $ign released his first single "All Star", featuring Joe Moses with production by Fuego. His song "My Cabana" was ranked in Complex's Best 50 Songs of 2012 list at #23.

Then he released the Beach House mixtape on October 1, 2012 and followed with the Beach House 2 mixtape on July 1, 2013, which featured guest appearances by Too $hort, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, and Kirko Bangz among others. The following day it was revealed he was signed to Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang Records. The Beach House mixtape was supported by the single "My Cabana" featuring Young Jeezy and Beach House 2 was supported by the singles "Irie" featuring Wiz Khalifa.
On January 21, 2014, Ty Dolla $ign released his debut extended play, Beach House EP. The EP featured guest appearances from Casey Veggies, Wiz Khalifa, Twista, Jay Rock, Trey Songz, French Montana, and Fredo Santana and the popular single "Paranoid" featuring B.o.B. On January 7, 2014 Ty Dolla $ign released the second single from Beach House EP, "Or Nah" featuring Wiz Khalifa and DJ Mustard. On February 23, 2014, Ty Dolla $ign revealed that his debut studio album would be titled Free TC, and be released during the third quarter of 2014. Hitmaka!
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Draco hold how many what your friends say
Yeah, I keep making moves like sensei
Don't nobody move, that's what I say
FN blow the cherry off your sundae, ooh
I'm a full time finesser, ain't no chancing it
Hundred hanging off my neck like a chandelier
I got moves to make, I got somethin' in the wraith
Selling candy bars, sound like me when I was eight (whoo)
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Balenciaga book bag, OG gas in the pouch
Double G slippers, Prada rugs in the house
Baby girl, what you gonna do for this clout?
You gon' bust it open, put this (ooh) in your mouth
Drip-drop, she gonna suck on the tip-top
Lip-locked, Trojan smile, I need a big sock
Do it for the game, never for for the fame
Bitch, I lie and cheat (yeah)
This shit in my veins
Whoo
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Ten bands on my feet
Hundred bands on my wrist
You ain't ready for this shit, no
You ain't ready for this clout
Ay, keep my name out your mouth
Are you stupid?
Are you dumb?
Are you stupid? Psh!
Watch your mouth, watch your mouth
You ain't ready for this clout
You ain't ready for this clout, no
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Smash for the clout
Dash, I'm out
Mashin' for the clout
TT, GT for the clout
Ooh, hop out
Draco on the couch
In Ty Dolla $ign's song "Clout," he talks about his pursuit of fame and success in the music industry. The repetitive chorus of "smash for the clout, dash, I'm out, mashin' for the clout" suggests that he is willing to do whatever it takes to gain more attention and followers, even if it means leaving behind those who do not contribute to his success. He mentions carrying a Draco, a type of gun, on the couch and suggests that he is not afraid to defend himself and his accomplishments.
The verse also mentions his flashy lifestyle, with Balenciaga book bags, OG gas in the pouch, and designer slippers and rugs. He asks a woman what she will do for the clout, suggesting that he may have shallow relationships and expect them to benefit him in some way. In the final lines, he asserts that he is ready for the clout and tells those who doubt him to watch their mouths.
Overall, the lyrics convey Ty Dolla $ign's desire for fame and recognition in the music industry, suggesting that he is willing to make sacrifices and put his reputation on the line to achieve his goals.
