I remember us before the lies
You remember all the shit I said
I remember all that did you right
Look at us now (I'm gettin' money)
You my ride or die, yeah
In "Famous Lies" by Ty Dolla $ign and Lauren Jauregui, the lyrics delve into the theme of a tumultuous relationship tainted by deceit and the subsequent aftermath. The opening line, "Do you remember when we both locked eyes?" suggests a nostalgic tone, evoking a reminiscent moment of connection and affection. However, the following line, "I remember us before the lies," indicates that this bond was marred by false pretenses and hidden truths.
The lyrics continue with the acknowledgment of both parties' awareness of the hurtful words spoken and the actions taken. The line, "You remember all the shit I said, I remember all that did you right," implies that while they may have hurt each other with their words, they also have memories of the positive aspects of their relationship. This line showcases their ability to recognize their mistakes and the moments when they uplifted one another.
The chorus, "Look at us now (I'm gettin' money), you my ride or die, yeah," demonstrates a shift in the narrative. Despite the lies and conflicts, the relationship perseveres, with the singer expressing their love for their partner and highlighting their loyalty. The phrase "I'm gettin' money" suggests a sense of success and growth amidst the challenges, reinforcing the idea that they have overcome the past issues and are now focused on building a better future together.
