Do-Do-Dolla $ign mustard on the beat, ho
I ain't ever lost a friend
And if I ever did, then fuck them niggas
Still money over bitches (Over bitches)
Fucked up how money ruin friendships
(Oh yeah)
I'm the nigga with the check, girl
(With the check) i'm the nigga put these
Diamonds on your neck, girl
I got the juice, baby
(The juice, babe) , I just
Wanna spend it on you, baby
All my niggas getting dough, we stay real
I still take a nigga bitch, fuck how he feel
No old bitches in the brand new crib
(New crib)
All ten toes stomp down, I'll be on my shit
And I ain't ever lost a friend
If I ever did, then fuck them niggas
And it's still money over bitches
Fucked up how money ruin friendships (Oh no)
Fucked up how money ruin friendships
I ain't ever lost a fade, and if I ever did
Scream fuck them niggas
I ain't ever lost a friend
And if I ever did
Blood really wasn't with us
In Ty Dolla $ign’s song “Money Ruin Friendships,” the artist reflects on the impact of money on his relationships with his friends. The opening lines of the song show that he has never lost a friend, but if he ever did, he wouldn't care about them. For him, money always comes first, and those who can’t accept that are not worth his time. He emphasizes this by saying “fucked up how money ruin friendships” which could mean that he has seen his friends change when money is involved. However, even with his obsession with money, he still takes care of the women in his life, spending lavishly on them.
Ty Dolla $ign sees himself as the man with money, putting diamonds on his girl’s neck, and having the juice that he wants to spend on her. Still, he remains grounded, saying that he and his crew are “stomping” down, always on their grind, and taking care of their priorities. He also mentions his loyalty to his team, as there are “no old bitches” in his new crib, indicating that he has left his past behind and only surrounds himself with the people who matter most. The artist's catchy repetition of the phrase “money over bitches,” adds to the powerful theme that money is everything, and those who cannot accept that will lose his company.
Overall, the lyrics convey the message that money is the central aspect of Ty Dolla $ign's life, and he will do anything to ensure his financial stability. While this might mean losing some friends along the way, he remains focused on his goals, and those who cannot understand it will be left behind.
