After that duo went on hiatus in 2021, Hubbard began recording as a solo artist on EMI Nashville. His first solo chart entry was a guest vocalist on Tim McGraw's "Undivided", followed by his first solo single "5 Foot 9", which topped the Billboard Country Airplay charts in 2022. He released his self-titled debut album in 2023.
Since 2021, Hubbard’s bandmate Brian Kelley signaled an intention to record and release solo music while remaining a part of Florida Georgia Line, with the support of Hubbard. Simultaneously, Hubbard revealed he would occasionally record collaborations as a solo artist as well. The first of these, the single "Undivided" with Tim McGraw, was released on January 13, 2021. He then featured on the song "My Way" with rapper Lathan Warlick. Hubbard and Russell Dickerson were both featured on Thomas Rhett's 2022 promotional single "Death Row".
Hubbard signed a recording contract with EMI Nashville in May 2022 and plans to release a solo album on the label. He released his debut solo single "5 Foot 9" later that month. On November 4, 2022, Hubbard announced that his debut album would be released on January 27, 2023. He co-headlined the halftime show at the 109th Grey Cup in Regina, Saskatchewan alongside Jordan Davis and Josh Ross.

Back Then Right Now
Tyler Hubbard Lyrics
Back then, right now
Back when that blacktop was just a gravel road
Back when that Walmart was just a fishin' hole
Back when my ol' guitar had some brand-new strings
Yes, it did
Back when a work truck was just a stick shift
Back when you took a pic and didn't have to post it
Back when a Baptist church was where we learned to sing
Yeah, we did
I could use some back then, right now
'98 Chevy with the tailgate down
Fm only with the gold up loud
Burnin' up the night
Innocent and wild
I could use a little more wide open
Back when all I wanted was the hand I was holdin'
Livin' in the moment
With the good time crowd
Makin' life count
Damn, I could use a little more
Back then, right now
Back then, right now
Back when a, "How ya been?" Came through a phone call
Back when a pastime was watchin' baseball
Yeah, back when politics, it wasn't table talk
Back when you had a fight, you could just walk it off
I could use some back then right now
'98 Chevy with the tailgate down
Fm only with the gold up loud
Burnin' up the night
Innocent and wild
I could use a little more wide open
Back when all I wanted was the hand I was holdin'
Livin' in the moment
With the good time crowd
Makin' life count
Damn, I could use a little more
Back then, right now
Back then, right now
Back then, it was simple, it was slow (mm, yeah)
We didn't worry 'bout what we didn't know
I could use some back then, right now
'98 Chevy with the tailgate down
Fm only with the gold up loud
Burnin' up the night
Innocent and wild
I could use a little more wide open
Back when all I wanted was the hand I was holdin'

The one song that makes me think of my past with the good memories and play them in my mind and I don’t cry when they play. Thank you Tyler. You have once again made a song that I relate to and that makes me happy every single time I hear it played
