The lyrics of Tyler Read's song "Intentions" depict a curious scenario of two people who have ulterior motives towards each other. The singer looks at this person and sees right through their hidden intentions, which are evident on the side of their face. The anticipation of what they both want is crawling all over their skin and the person's body starts to move. The singer sees them starting to sweat as they get closer to crossing that line, yet they are holding back for the time being. The singer is determined to find them somehow, and he wonders where they would run to and what they would tell him.
As the song progresses, it seems like the people in the scenario are not being true to themselves or their feelings. The singer implies that they let social pressure dictate what they do, and they are kissing other people to make themselves seem cool or desirable. Moreover, he points out that there is some confusion among the young girls trying to find a boy, but they actually need a man. The song concludes with the singer acknowledging that he is falling apart, and he is desperately trying to find the other person. He calls everyone he knows, mistakenly dialing wrong numbers, and he wonders if anyone has seen the person he is searching for.
