He has been with the group since its inception, and has been known for coming with strong verses on Clan albums as well as other members solo albums.
U-God was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York. However he moved to Staten Island, New York as a youth. He was originally a beatboxer for clan affiliate Cappadonna, as well as being well known friends with future members Method Man, Inspectah Deck, and Raekwon. Sometime before the members united, U-God was mentored in rap by Cappadonna. He soon became friends with RZA and Ghostface Killah, and he began rhyming under the alias Golden Arms, based on the kung-fu movie The Kid with The Golden Arms. Later on narcotics possession prevented him from featuring heavily on the group's debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), his input on the seminal LP consisting of only a short bridge on the group's debut single "Protect Ya Neck" in 1992 as well as the famous opening verse of "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'". Nevertheless, after his release he quickly became known to fans for his rugged flow and bass-like voice on Wu tracks such as "Winter Warz", "Knuckleheadz", "Investigative Reports", and "Black Jesus". He was featured heavily on the group's second album Wu-Tang Forever on which he was one of only four of the group to get a solo track - "Black Shampoo" (While the others being Inspectah Deck with "The City", Ol' Dirty Bastard with "Dog Shit" and RZA with "Sunshower"; clan affiliate and singer Tekitha sang 'Second Coming' solo). Around this time his young son was accidentally shot and injured, an ordeal the rapper documented on the Wu-Tang Clan track "A Better Tomorrow". He appeared with all the clan members during the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, as well as on tour for the release of Wu Tang Clan's latest album, 8 Diagrams. U-God released his third studio album Dopium in 2009 and touring around the globe in support of 8 Diagrams. He released his fourth studio album Keynote Speaker in 2013.

Semi Automatic: Full Rap Metal Jacket
U-God Lyrics
Yo, yo
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
I make mean lean when I pump my spunk
And hands of chump, of machine gun funk
I bliss, like the fist of the mantis
Those who oppose get dropped and hit the canvas
With rigormor', I hit you in the core and
Pop your legs well in the figure four
You can't stop the force when the blood is coursin'
Extortion, I'm comin' like the headless horseman
Enforcin', torturous slang from a fortune
Swordsman, throw your rap corpse in coffins
Don't pop glocks at me then cops a plea
A hundred thousand leagues beneath the sea
Deep depths makes rappers salted
Weak rapper's asses I cracks my foot off in
Lay down them lines with them hard hits
And I'm harmin', bombin' with heavy bombardments
Pushin' poetry like weed by the pounds
Underground railroad, RZA track lay it down
I'm hard as pavement, you gaze from amazement
Knock you in the head, you wonder where the days went
It's golden bangles, microphone getting strangled
Five-star general, scars you wanna angle
Bizarre thriller, war scar for a killer
Sheisty mic device got my hand-piece throbbin'
Slice mics precise on down to ice carvings
You can't hack the tactic
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactic
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic (yo)
I set the mic in flames, bomb like fighter planes
Mc's are shot down long-range with sniper aim
No question marks, the session starts with sparks
My flows explode like hand grenades through your parts
Universal soldier, MO's the holder
Globe in both hands, born to be sole controller
Hit the world full blast, my crime pays cash
Slip past these cyphers and the flash from the photograph
Best-seller compose a rough draft
Razor Sharp vocabulary cut glass
Actual facts crowds of thousands collapse
You can't catch my style with bugs and phone taps
Whether rhymes or crimes, I want mines regardless
Hard targets, underground like black markets
Pirates of the darkest water feel the aura
Importer of rough raps that's snuck 'cross the border
Semi-automatic attack'll spray y'all
Liquid Sword swingin' slay all, I'm AWOL
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic
Wu-tang be
Killin' you softly with this song
You won't survive the outcome I bring Def Jams to your eardrums
P.L.O. hits the hardest, regardless
Felony offenders catchin' murder one charges
Open cases, got me smoked out in staircases
The dark crusader jackin cats in elevators
I strike back like the Jedi, from N.Y.
It's I illifyin', dope rhyme supplyin'
I be all you need to rock these mic devices
Projectile Shaolin style exiles your juvenile freestyle
I'm not your basic street entrepreneur, crime tour, packs the luger
High pursuit for the C.R.E.A.M like the bodyguard from Bejing
Inject you with the morphine then I flee the murder scene
On your facilities, the penalty, DOA
Bombshell your burrow like Bombay
Opposites attack that's why these thieves stay strapped
As we travel the glove to put Shaolin on the map
I show loyalty to my fans fully
Operational raps that bust through your skully
I'm rated second-to-none, I be the top gun
From the land of the Slums, spittin' blades from my tongue
Park your slug slinger, hit you with the sleeper
Hit-seeker, sounds that be attackin' your speaker
Watch me bang the headpiece, kid, there's no survival
My flow lights up the block like a homicidal
Murder, underground beef for the burger
P.L.O., criminal thoughts you never heard of
You can't hack the tactics
Of a semi-automatic full rap fanatic

People still sleeping on UGOD...
He murdered this thing
@calienteelfriende5842
Facts. He may not have been on point level wise on certain songs but this one which stands out the most in my opinion and It's Yours he was on point. This track though he held his own and is debatable on which of all three was the best. Not to say U God out rapped them lyrically but was def him that stood out. Perhaps the hook benefitted which fit proper and overall dope if only him doing but if that was the case then it was the energy that matched or motivated him. His voice alone is a gift and a curse but can't be negated as a voice suited for hip hop. For rappers with super deep voices from the get go was probably a challenge for him developing his style with him as far as perception of super deep voices rappers known to have a slower and less sophisticated yet trying to fit in and hold his own amongst the group lyrically. It's not easy sometimes rappers have to make compromises like B Real who was told needed to work on his voice otherwise it would be Sen Dog rapping and him writing them hence the nasally pitch. U structured his flows to the best of his ability without compromising lyrical ability other than being as lyrical as possible which was an ongoing process and even times going beyond that limit to group more syllables together somewhat through parts of his verses. None the less this verse went hard and was just right for this track he def set it off
