Fond memories of this. In my teenage years I can remember being amazed at this and trying to bend spoons/forks like this after seeing him on TV ( with NO success of course!) Many of us were so gullible lol. Now we see the evidence that he was nothing more than a "magician", exposed by the wonderful James Randi, Johnny Carson and even on Noel's House Party in the UK where hidden cameras secretly filmed him at a set up dinner-he clearly, sneakily used two hands to bend a fork!!!! I also saw him a few years ago at our science festival-but he didn't bend a spoon. Instead, he asked us all to bring watches which had stopped working and he would attempt to get them working! What a pointless exercise-after about 200 were put on stage in front of him he used his amazing powers on them. Again-complete failure. He seemed more intent in telling us that during the interval that he had been talking with his friend, Michael (Jackson)! FFS!! I think he just loved the idea of fame and celebrity! Clearly a pretentious fake making a lucrative career as a con man. And, as Geller claims that his powers were given to him by an angel from another planet, I would simply ask why did this angel give him the useless power to bend cutlery lol!

It's actually much simpler than that. When nobody's looking, he quickly bends the objects with his bare hands. In magician's circles it's known as distraction and it's an important part of every magic act. You don't need any fancy metals for that.

The spoons he used to bend were made of gallium (atomic number, 31). So, some of the tricks he used to perform, anyone can perform them (with gallium-made spoons). If people in the public just happened to take with them some spoons made of stainless steel or silver to the theater, he would not have been able to fool the public. if he used gallium, he'd have to be incredibly careful not to melt the entire thing. as someone else said, this is easily done with any old spoon or fork. you just need to bend the shit out of it back and forth beforehand until you notice it getting quite weak, at which point the trick is ready to be presented.

edit: also to add, Uri never melted anything into liquid metal actually. this proves that it was never Gallium.

It could be and I'm not saying you're wrong but I have to say that although this sounds easy in theory as an explanation, it's not easy in practice, I've often tried this 'pre-bending' spoons just to see what happens because it was the obvious explanation I thought of myself back then but doing this even a good number of times doesn't necessarily weaken metal spoons to a point where it would be all that easy to then just rub it to bend it, so I think there must be more to it than that.

I drove uri to Wembley studios then dropped him at a restaurant. Picked him up from the restaurant and on the way back I asked how does he bend the spoon? He pulled a spoon he stole from the restaurant and started doing his trick!! I had to stop to see what is going on, he bent the spoon but I wasn't convinced! Johnny Carson and James Randy tried to debunk Geller in Carson's show by providing their own utensils. Geller couldn't do it. However, this attempt to ridicule Geller backfired for Johnny and Randy. This clip showed NOTHING to disprove Uri Geller's powers (if he has any). The female commentator is right in everything she says. Maybe that particular fork was one which Geller had brought and which had been doctored in some way, or maybe not, but this footage does not reveal any trickery. It is highly entertaining, and I wish it had been longer.

Hehe Uri can't convince the traditional English gent ....I'm relieved to see that not everyone was fooled by that scam, remember professor's ruined their careers due to believing him and doing studies that were of course full of Uri lying and cheating!

Plastic has more than one meaning e.g. it's not just the name of the hydrocarbon-based material.

It also means malleable.

The guy in the end gives way too complicated explanation. Geller simply just claims he's gently stroking the fork, when he's pressing it to see where it breaks. Geller is poor magician but excellent liar.

I know what you mean, in all fairness, I am prepared to believe that Uri really does have these abilities but it is healthy to question, I have seen James Randi's documentaries on Geller and although Randi seems to make a convincing case against Geller I have to say there are holes in Randi's Anti-Geller case, I am open minded, I will say that as a person Uri Geller has always come across to me as warm and sincere, not the type of person to fake but it could be all an act, it's hard to tell.

Not the person to fake lol how did he suddenly lose his powers on the Johnny Carson show ppl are so silly cool to keep an open mind but this is clear as day James Randi does amazing job at the spoon bending trick as well

well, that fork was maked like that to be bended even if you don't have supernatural powers, so is not a trick.

Plastic means permanently deformed. When you bend a paperclip or a slinky in a way it won't go back, that's plastic deformation.

Nope, I mean you're not wrong with that definition within that context, but the original assertion that "plastic" always means "permanently deformed" isn't accurate.

Plastic has several meanings (e.g. it can be a noun and an adjective) and despite the fact that I'm no fan of Geller he's not using the term incorrectly.

Anyone on here that still thinks this is real, google his confession in which he states he's a fraud. It's so obvious from videos like this that he's fake, can't believe people actually needed him to come out and say it.

Scrappy video: instead try excellent detailed book full of exploration by the late Prof John Hasted, a nuclear scientist, "The Metal Benders". Some spoons, yes, and encounters with Geller, but also carefully calibrated strain gauges, special brittle metals sealed in glass and seen to soften, with proper independent scrutiny and metallurgical followup. Leaves you in no doubt: this phenomenon (and some other strange occurrences) is real. What a challenge to physics. Many test subjects were children: chosen because if they fake things it is usually obvious!

You are all missing the point. Geller is a fraud we all know that. Even he knows we know. He is however, a very rich fraud and an amazingly successful business man. He was in the right place at the right time. The general public do what they do best and believe in such BS and they will continue to do so. So, I say “good luck Mr Geller. You may not have fooled us all, but you fooled enough. Enjoy your retirement”
