In a Little While
U2 featuring Brandon Flowers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In a little while
Surely you'll be mine
In a little while, I'll be there
In a little while
This hurt will hurt no more
I'll be home, love

When the night takes a deep breath
And the daylight has no air
If I crawl, if I come crawling home
Will you be there?

In a little while
I won't be blown by every breeze
Friday night running to Sunday on my knees
That girl, that girl she's mine
Well I've known her since
Since she was

A little girl with Spanish eyes
When I saw her first in a pram they pushed her by
Oh uh my, my how you've grown
Well it's been, it's been a little while

Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Slow down my beating heart
A man dreams one day to fly
A man takes a rocket ship into the skies
He lives on a star that's dying in the night
And follows in the trail, the scatter of light
Turn it on
Turn it on, you turn me on

Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love
Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love

Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love

Overall Meaning

The song "In a Little While" by U2 featuring Brandon Flowers is about the healing power of love, even in the darkest moments. The lyrics describe the singer's longing for a love that will bring him comfort and promises that in a little while, he will be with the one he loves. The song begins with the line "surely you'll be mine," suggesting the inevitability of the singer's reunion with his lover. The phrase "in a little while" is repeated several times throughout the song, emphasizing the idea that time is relative and that even the longest wait will eventually come to an end.

The second verse of the song is a plea to the singer's lover to be there for him in his time of need. The metaphor of crawling home suggests that the singer has been through some difficult times and needs to be comforted by his partner. The line "this hurt will hurt no more" implies that the singer's pain will be alleviated by the presence of his lover.

The third verse is an ode to the singer's childhood sweetheart, who he has known since she was a little girl. The line "that girl, that girl she's mine" suggests a possessiveness on the part of the singer, but it is clear that he has deep feelings of love and affection for his childhood sweetheart.

Overall, "In a Little While" is a hopeful and uplifting song about the restorative power of love. It suggests that even in the midst of darkness and turmoil, love can bring us hope and healing.

That Brandon's voice is pure magic live.

Shervinator

I wish he still sang like this.

Tom

Had the pleasure of being at the filmed Albert Hall gig. Bling still sends shivers down my spine. And he got his timing spot on, getting back to the stage. What a guy. Even my mum loves Brandon Flowers. And she doesn’t even like my dad, and they’ve been married 50 years 😂😂

Wendy Stevens

@Shervinator Like what exactly? I have seen TK 3 times in the last 2 months and his voice is EXTRORDINARY live - it's even better than this now - The man has a 4 OCTAVE RANGE and its clear as a bell.

Anthony

I like that Brandon doesn't just do a karaoke style here, he keeps his own style in his take.

Alexandria Ocasio-Smollett

What do you mean? It’s in the same key with the same lyrics at the same timing with the same pitch. Literally the only thing that is different is his timbre(which is going to happen with anyone who would sing any song).

Anthony

@Alexandria Ocasio-Smollett he's staying faithful to his own style with the vibrato, belting and the little "decorations" he has as part of his vocals. It's not just him trying to be Bono

Helena Brunne

Doesn't get any better than this.  Two of the greatest from the two current best bands in the world.

Ian Lawrence

I would have actually lost my mind at this concert. Brandon on stage with these legends is something to behold.

Ben Johnston Music

Absolutely
