Surprise
ULYSSES & STONE Lyrics

You been telling lies
How I was wrapped up in you
But surprise, surprise
Surprise, surprise
I never wanted you that bad
'Cause I knew you was telling lies
Knew you was telling lies
Why did you have to
Go and fool after
We had got along so fine
But surprise, surprise
Surprise, surprise
Ain't nothing strange to me
Knew you was telling lies
Knew you was telling lies
I could see it in your eyes
Knew you was telling lies
Knew you was telling lies
I could see it in your eyes
I hope you're proud of
All your chasin' 'round
Thinkin' I was alone all night
But surprise, surprise
Surprise, surprise
You're only foolin' yourself
'Cause I knew you was telling lies
Knew you was telling lies
I could see it in your eyes
Yeah, baby why did you have to go fool around
After we got along so fine
I knew you was tellin' lies and tellin' jive
Yes I did
We got along so fine
But I knew you was telling lies
Knew you was talkin' jive
I could see it in your eyes
The lyrics of "Surprise" by ULYSSES & STONE describe a situation where the singer hears from their friends that the person they were involved with has been spreading lies about their relationship. The singer expresses their lack of interest in that person and reveals their awareness of the lies from the beginning. The repeated phrase "Surprise, surprise" portrays a tone of sarcasm and disbelief towards the other person's actions. Despite the initial connection they had, the singer sees through the lies and deception, suggesting that they could see it in the other person's eyes. The lyrics imply that the singer is not affected by the lies and is aware of the other person's attempts at manipulation.
The song explores themes of betrayal, disappointment, and deception in a relationship. It highlights the singer's ability to see through the lies and their self-assuredness in not being emotionally affected by the other person's actions. It conveys a sense of empowerment and detachment, suggesting that the singer is confident in their own judgement and was never deeply invested in the relationship to begin with.
Overall, "Surprise" is a straightforward and unapologetic response to someone who attempted to deceive the singer. It showcases the singer's ability to remain unaffected by the lies and maintain their own sense of self-worth.

Oh wow.
Barely remembered this show, the face of zeus, all of the companions getting pulled out if their chairs and left floating in that one room.
It was just enough that I spent WAY too much time over the years trying to remember the name of the show, or find some reference to it. Managed to find it on a forgotten cartoons list today, which lead me here.
Thanks for uploading it!
Never ever thought I would find this again, and am shocked it was a straight rip from greek literature. Totally didn't remember that at all.

back from a time when animation didn't treat kids as idiots. Love this series

Gravity Falls is okay
@sillysod33
The person who composed the theme music is a damn genius.
@iandobbs9384
How so?
@danielsrandomchannel1472
@Ian Dobbs it was Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, who composed the theme tunes of Inspector Gadget, Power Rangers and He-Man.
@iandobbs9384
Cool. I didn't know, thanks for explaining :)

@FuzzWoof
Not just the theme music - I haven't watched an episode of this in probably 30 years and as soon as one of the background themes kicked in, I knew it like I heard it yesterday, it was like a massively repressed earworm, haha.
@NorthSea_1981
I love how super dark this series is at times. The atmosphere and mood is often quite gloomy.
This is a minor 80s anime/cartoon cult classic here in Germany.
Masterpiece.
@yryama
I saw this in Spanish in Cuba...I will for sure binge on it this weekend
