From the sleeve notes for the latest release End Titles...Stories For Film released in July 2008, the current line-up is stated as James Lavelle and Pablo Clements, also a member of the Psychonauts.
The original line-up was James Lavelle, Tim Goldsworthy (now a member of DFA) and Kudo (Major Force West, Skylab). This incarnation released several EPs and singles, usually involving collaborations with other Mo'Wax affiliated artists.
In 1998, after the departure of Goldsworthy and Kudo, Lavelle enlisted US producer DJ Shadow to help complete UNKLE's debut album, "Psyence Fiction". On this album they collaborated with a variety of guest artists including Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Mike D (Beastie Boys), Badly Drawn Boy and Richard Ashcroft (The Verve). The album contained songs which merged indie-rock with hip hop.
In 2003 UNKLE released "Never, Never, Land". At this time UNKLE consisted of Lavelle and new collaborator Richard File, and the album also featured Ian Brown (The Stone Roses), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), Mani (The Stone Roses, Primal Scream) and others.
A third album entitled "War Stories" was released in July 2007. It features collaborations with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Ian Astbury (The Cult), Autolux, Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), The Duke Spirit, and Gavin Clark, and is far more strongly rock-influenced than previous releases. The album was preceded by an EP, Nights Temper, of which a limited pressing was released in May 2007.
Lavelle has also released several mix albums and remixes under his own name and under the name UNKLEsounds (together with Richard File).
UNKLE is known for remixing music from artists such as Explosions in the Sky, Massive Attack, and Oasis.
Find an Outsider
UNKLE Lyrics

got your past it makes you lighter
make your move catch the tide
listening these wings decide
are we heading to light
should I stop and try and hide
take a seat on your ride
don't make me feel like an outsider
run in lines and come in blind
its not enough to make you mine
hear you come with your fire
tie the knot and make it tighter
when love in place will rest in pieces
get in line its just too easy
before you come don't make a scene
before too long I know ill find her
I know ill find her
Oh I wanted nothing more
To tell you that I'm yours
And keep you from falling
Oh I wanted nothing more
To tell you that I'm yours
And keep you from falling
keep you from falling
falling
Lets choose to live when its time to die
Theres a time and place to make our crime
Sheding blood will???
Give me a reason and ill breath
Seal the deal before its time to leave
Playing dead so we cant be seen
Far and wide ill set the scene
Live for to long I know ill find her
I know ill find her
Oh I wanted nothing more
To tell you that I'm yours
And keep you from falling
Oh I wanted nothing more
To tell you that I'm yours
And keep you from falling
keep you from falling
falling
to sit alone and take a hit

The lyrics of UNKLE feat. The Big Pink's song Find An Outsider seem to center around the ideas of love, commitment, and belonging. The song opens with the lines "Can this love take you higher, got your past it makes you lighter, make your move catch the tide, listening these wings decide". These lines suggest that love can help individuals overcome their struggles and take them to new heights. The next lines "Should I stop and try to hide, take a seat on your ride, don't make me feel like an outsider" indicate that the singer of the song fears being excluded or rejected by their loved one.
Throughout the rest of the song, the lyrics explore the idea of commitment and the challenges that come with it. The lines "Before you come don't make a scene, before too long I know I'll find her, I know I'll find her" suggest that the singer is searching for someone to commit to, but they are afraid of rejection. The chorus repeats the lines "Oh, I wanted nothing more, to tell you that I'm yours, and keep you from falling, keep you from falling". These lines indicate that the singer wants to protect their loved one from harm and keep them safe.
Overall, the lyrics of Find An Outsider are about the challenges and rewards of love and commitment. The singer fears exclusion and wants to protect their loved one from harm, but they also seek connection and commitment.
