Paranoid
U And K Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Finished with my woman
'Cause she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane because I'm frowning all the time

Paranoid, paranoid, make me paranoid
Paranoid, paranoid, make me paranoid
Paranoid, paranoid, make me paranoid
Paranoid, paranoid, yeah

All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Paranoid, paranoid, can you feel it?

Paranoid, paranoid, thought you were my friend
Paranoid, paranoid, oh yeah

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to U and K's song, "Paranoid" express a deep sense of discomfort and unease within the mind of the singer. The song opens with the lines, "Finished with my woman/ 'Cause she couldn't help me with my mind" indicating that the singer's romantic relationship has come to an end due to his struggles with anxiety and paranoia. The lyrics, "People think I'm insane because I'm frowning all the time" further convey the singer's sense of isolation and alienation from those around him, who do not appear to understand or empathize with his struggles.

The song's chorus is a repetition of the phrase "Paranoid, paranoid, make me paranoid" which increases the pace and rhythm of the song. The lyrics "All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy" and "Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify" convey the idea that the singer is stuck in a loop of anxious thoughts and feels unable to escape them. The lyrics, "Paranoid, paranoid, can you feel it?/ Paranoid, paranoid, thought you were my friend/ Paranoid, paranoid, oh yeah" indicate that the singer is grappling with a sense of betrayal or disappointment in someone close to him.

The song itself has a driving beat and a sense of urgency that mirrors the singer's inner turmoil. The use of repetition in the chorus emphasizes the cyclical nature of the singer's anxiety, while the lyrics themselves paint a vivid picture of someone struggling with interior demons. Overall, U and K's "Paranoid" is a powerful exploration of the human psyche and the struggles that we all face when dealing with mental health issues.

This is me, through and through. The paranoia is not necessarily based on things that are unlikely to happen. The paranoia is constant "hypersensitive" fears. That's what differentiates this from a psychotic paranoia. It's kinda like something between anxiety and psychosis.

For example: with social anxiety, you might just fear being judged negatively. With psychosis, you might think aliens have infiltrated peoples bodies and want to attack you. With paranoia, you might think people are out to get you; but your fears are based on real things; but not necessarily things that are actually happening; or likely to happen.

Everything she mentioned is me to a Tee.

However, she is wrong about one thing. She said that you can never "Break through" to a person dealing with this; and this person would never "forgive" you if you did do something to hurt them.

Because I'm a Born-Again Christian, Jesus has greatly helped me over the years in dealing with it. No, it isn't gone; but I've made progress. And get this! I don't see a psychiatrist and haven't had an inpatient admission or been on medicine in 11 years. I was in and out of the mental health system for 12 years of my growing-up life. It was only after I got Born-Again that I even began making progress. Jesus put someone in my life that has, in many ways, really "proven" to me that many of my fears are wildly irrational. This person is truly the kindest most caring person that has ever lived. In other words: I've had a reckoning moment. And again, even though it certainly isn't "gone"; I've made great progress with it.

I could have this.. after a marriage to an abusive narcissist.....it took a long time to get away from him. Now if a person shows any tendency to control me or control my thinking...or talk mean to me..I'm done..I look rite through them if I encounter them in public..kind of like blocking them..and nothing can convince me to unblock them...nothing...they become non-existent to me..😎

Can u pls upload the way to handle a person with ppd.

Could you make a video about hppd and visual snow explaining the differences? I think it’s a very misunderstood topic and it would help a lot of people out there. Also it would raise awareness for doctors and researchers to find a treatment.
