Djinn
Uada Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The outer demons
Swarming all around
Yet within us they're found
Like blood and semen
The gifts of life and death
Which mold and mend the flesh

Imprisoned angels
Wings drop with the inks of night
Captive in the fables of light
The three triangles
The pyramids of space and time
Allow our stars to align

Prophesied watchers
Illustrating a new eon's birth
Draw down the moon to the earth
The shadow stalkers
Dominion of obsidian flame
With spell and sword we maim

The smokeless fire
Guide me through the chaos beyond
Drink deep the night wells of dawn
Let us transpire
In the kingdom of twilight truths
The tongue of tidings and muse

Hokhmah
Grant me
So I may never wish again
Binah
Enchant me
So I may never need again

My soul is burning
South from the plains of Abraham
Ayin

Grant me
So I may never wish again

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Uada's song Djinn contain imagery of outer demons swarming around us, but also existing within us. The gifts of life and death are likened to blood and semen, molding and mending the flesh. The theme of imprisonment continues with the notion of imprisoned angels, their wings dropping with the inks of night, captive in the fables of light. The pyramids of space and time are mentioned as allowing our stars to align. There are also prophesied watchers illustrating a new eon's birth, drawing down the moon to the earth, with the shadow stalkers dominating the obsidian flame, using spell and sword to maim.

The mention of smokeless fire guides the singer through the chaos beyond, to drink deep from the night wells of dawn. The singer seeks to transpire in the kingdom of twilight truths, with the tongue of tidings and muse. Two deities are invoked, Hokhmah and Binah. Hokhmah is asked to grant the singer so they may never wish again, while Binah is asked to enchant the singer so they may never need again. The song ends with the singer's soul burning south from the plains of Abraham, once again imploring Ayin (another deity) to grant them so they may never wish again.

Overall, the lyrics seem to be exploring the idea of inner and outer demons and capturing the sense of entrapment and imprisonment, while seeking guidance and protection from various deities.

@D-A-1776

Love this band. Everything they've done is awesome. Great live band too, met them at a show, had a beer with their singer and guitarist and talked for a bit really cool guys.

@njtransit4278

It took 4 listens. That’s the magic number. After 4 listens I realized this is incredible. I can’t wait to see this one live.

@laszlopapp3860

Mgla & Uada two favorite band 😎

@Geoffinho

I always thought UADA lacked of personality, thats why I really appreciate the creativity and musical ambition of this new track. Great job

@nicolasguerra441

0:40 I was waiting for that riff 💜

@alexwentzel1473

I think this is quite grand ! 🤘🏻 Uada is one of those bands that uses every inch of sound. No emptiness that a lot of bands seem to have trouble with nowadays

@toddabuck

This is the coolest thing the band has put out to date. Devoid of light had solid riffs, leads and vocals where cult of a dying sun just felt like a retread with a slightly deeper/darker tone. This builds on the badassery in devoid of light while bringing new songwriting and tonal elements to the mix that I really appreciate

@wormfost5578

Uada is consistently fucking great. Love the new track! It’s the band I always wanted to start. Perfect.

@canuck5896

They've really honed in on their own sound. I dig it. Took a few spins to fully appreciate.
