Languish for Bliss
Unholy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That all those gentle words
Would pour out of my lips
How my sincere thoughts
Would tenderly capture
Your yet clear mind
How my strong arms
Would carry you through
Hear me, hear me
Try to stay away
I'm to be your doom
Oh how I wish
I was the one
I used to know
No reason for you to wither
With my wicked hollow soul
Still the memory of what we had
Will always be with me
For your beloved place
No one can ever take
In "Languish for Bliss," Unholy paints a vivid picture of a regretful lover yearning for another chance. The singer passionately describes how they long to express their true feelings, to lift their loved one up from their troubles, and to be the person they once were, before their soul was consumed by wickedness. The singer seems to acknowledge that they are responsible for their lover's suffering, warning them to stay away, even as they long for their company. The song ends on a bittersweet note, with the singer acknowledging that they can never replace their lover's special place in their heart.
The imagery in this song is striking, with its beautiful descriptions of valleys and clear minds contrasting sharply with the singer's sense of doom and wickedness. The lyrics capture the universal human experience of regretting past mistakes and wishing for a chance to make things right. The song's melancholic tone and poetic language create a sense of wistful longing, making it a favorite among fans of the doom metal genre.
