Union Youth Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Everyone knows the last tears are
Always the coldest that you have
I'm sleeping
Maybe I'll find the way back
I'm sleeping maybe
I do have one request
A special one secret request
Everyone knows the last tears are
Always the coldest that you have
All you sisters come together
And act your century
Bring me back to my home
The sun has never shone
And I found some others
And they are not like me
They'll never know
That I never will agree
And now I know just why
The world will never cry
Cause I found some others
And they are not like me
In Union Youth's song "Request", the first line "I wanna secede" sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics. The singer is feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around them, and they long to be separate from it all. The line "Everyone knows the last tears are always the coldest that you have" suggests that the singer has been through a lot of pain and heartache, and they are at a point where they feel numb to it all. They are sleeping, perhaps hoping that they will find a way back to a place where they feel more at home.
The chorus repeats the line "I wanna secede" along with the assertion that "the last tears are always the coldest". There is a sense of bitterness and disillusionment in these lines. The singer feels that they don't belong in this world, and that no one understands them. The bridge provides a glimmer of hope when the singer asks "All you sisters come together and act your century, bring me back to my home". This line suggests that the world can be a kinder place if people come together and act with compassion.
The last two lines of the song, "And now I know just why / The world will never cry" suggest a feeling of resignation on the part of the singer. They have found others who are like them, but they know that they will never be truly understood by the world at large.

Grunge Is Not Dead
Guten Tag,

@Grunge Is Not Dead Leider nicht.

@Enixier Hallo nochmal,
Hast du die Setlist schon gefunden?

Grunge Is Not Dead
