Candyland
Unprocessed Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We should watch the clock
′Cause we're hopping on the train
I′ve got the tickets in my bag
Watch the clock
We can't miss out now, they're gonna get us anyway
Come on hold on just a little
We will arrive by tonight everything will be alright
Now it′s time
Pack your clothes and take the games, the ones you really gonna need

In Candyland, Candyland
Castles made of sand
Make amends, Make amends
We′ll be the first ones to see the rooms from within
In Candyland, Candyland
Castles made of sand
Through thе lens, Through the lens
It looks likе we'd be free from evil and sin

We still watch the clock
But now that we′ve arrived, it doesn't matter anyways
Stop the clock
Cause it belongs to them, like all the things they took away
Come on hold on just a little
We′ve had our lives 'til tonight nothings gonna be alright
Now it′s time
Say your prayers don't be shy to ask the lord to make you fly

I feel like enjoying the moment by ourselves like it was our last
Bye girl
I'll say your name when we′re gone, tell the stories from our past
I feel like enjoying the moment by ourselves like it was our last
Bye girl
I′ll say your name when we're slaves, we belong to the outcast

In Candyland, Candyland
Castles made of sand
Make amends, Make amends
We′ll be the first ones to see the rooms from within
In Candyland, Candyland
Castles made of sand

Through the lens, Through the lens
It looks like we'd be free from evil and sin

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Unprocessed's song Candyland are about escapism and finding solace in a fantasy world. The opening line "We should watch the clock 'cause we're hopping on the train" suggests that the singer is leaving reality behind and embarking on a journey. They have their tickets in hand and are determined not to miss out on their opportunity to leave. The refrain "In Candyland, Candyland, castles made of sand" paints a picture of a fantastical world full of whimsy and imagination. The idea of castles made of sand highlights the temporary nature of the fantasy world and the fragility of their escape.

The verses tell a story of being pursued or hunted by an unknown enemy ("they're gonna get us anyway"), but also an acceptance that there's nowhere to escape to ("stop the clock 'cause it belongs to them"). The singer urges their companion to hold on and keep hoping that everything will be alright, but they also recognize that they might not make it through the night. The chorus acts as a mantra to return to the idea of the imaginary Candyland where they can be free from the real world's dangers and sins.

The ending of the song is bittersweet. The singer wants to cherish their time in Candyland and remember their companion even when they're gone. There's a sense of taking ownership of their situation by declaring they belong to the "outcast" rather than the enemy that's hunting them. The song ultimately conveys a sense of longing for escapism and the comfort of fantasy, even when the realities of life are harsh.

I really love how they're experimenting with pop. To me, it's like what pop music would sound if it actually had an emphasis on instrumental talent and not just vocals.

@nicengel5085

yeah. the slyde does that for me, too. way different band, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AaBYNVXyo8

@mateoparrish8221

You mean stringed instruments and natural drums? There are plenty of pop artists that are absolutely insane instrumental musicians, there's probably even more than in the metal community just due to the shear volume of people making pop music worldwide nowadays. Check out Jesús Molina, as just one example.

@DJ-pp4mt

Dude yes I feel the same way. I could listen to music like this all day but sadly theres nothing quite like this song. Then again it makes it so special to me

@timedwards8174

Yes, or just obnoxious booming bass from every one driving around, listening to top 40 and the likes 😄
Well and hip-hop and stuff. I dunno' 😕

@QWithoutTheU

Exactly.

@zamatallica7

It's pop but with actually talented musicians.

@chasedoesmusic

You don't have to be a shredder to be talented.

@zamatallica7

@@chasedoesmusic I never said you have to be a shredder. I said it's pop with talented musicians.

@chasedoesmusic

@@zamatallica7 Yeah but even though Pop is simple, it still takes a lot of skill to write catchy choruses and to produce and mix and master the music the way they do. It's just a different art, it doesn't take less or more effort than any other genre. Just a different skillset. People who make Pop face the challenge of making music that will appeal to the widest audience possible, and that takes skill to do. Obviously the members of Unprocessed are very skilled at what they do, but again, it's just a different skill. Not above any other one. Just my take though.
