--1-- Born in 2020 at a time when the world felt melancholy and generations found themselves struggling with daily life, several friends came together and harnessed their collective inspiration to offer empathy and compassion through music. “When you feel low, you’re never alone” conveys Detroit, Michigan-based UNWELL in their debut single "Tightrope." Encompassed in a lively, non-traditional pop punk genre, UNWELL uses heavier instrumental influences and catchy melodic vocals to deliver relatable messages that it’s ok to be “unwell.” Through their music and meaningful lyrics, UNWELL share their stories of struggle in hopes that others will find a home in UNWELL as they have.
--2-- Unwell is the ambient/drone/experimental project of Daniel Holideigh, based in Phoenix, Arizona. It was initially started as an outlet for miscellaneous musical experiments, but since releasing the album Selected Drones in late 2013, he has released a consistent sequence of albums and EPs in a similar style. His sound often features dense, droning soundscapes, and is heavy on improvisation. Some artists he has cited as influences are Alva Noto, Brian Eno, Loscil, and Swans.

You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Just one last text
To wish you the best
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Is blinding me now
And I can see
What's been going on for weeks
My vision's hazy
You wanna blame me
And your rope's too short to pull me in
This time I'll let you balance your life
But when you feel low
You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Just one last text
To wish you the best
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Everyone says the ocean's blue
But mine's red from the damage that you do
You're back to a crawl
You think it's my fault
Like I'm your safety net incase you fall
Guess I've been wasting all of my time
But when you feel low
You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Just one last text
To wish you the best
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
I'll never have another night with you
I left shore without a clue
If you think I'd never come back
Well you'd be wrong
I'll never have another night with you
I left shore without a clue
I don't know how many times that I could say you're wrong
So when you feel low
You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your tight...
But when you feel low
You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
Just one last text
To wish you the best
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
But when you feel low
You're never alone
I hope you find hope
On your Tightrope
The lyrics to Tightrope by Unwell appear to be about a relationship that has gone awry. The singer appears to be telling their partner that they are no longer willing to be their safety net, although they wish them the best on their journey. The opening line suggests that the partner feels low and alone, but the singer reassures them that they are not alone. The second line indicates that the singer hopes that their partner finds hope. The metaphor of a tightrope implies that life can be precarious and difficult to navigate, but the singer is encouraging their partner to keep balancing and to find the strength to keep going even when things are difficult.
