5x3
Upon a Burning Body Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nothings free in this world mother fucker

This life is not what you see on your screen
Your 5x3 reality
Before you double tap on what you wish you could be
Understand it might not be what you think

You want it so bad
But you don't know what it means
There's no turning back
Once your in to deep

Can you handle it
Here's the cold hearted truth
Only craving the money the power the fame will never satisfy you

This life is not just the views from the top
Because the higher your head gets the faster you'll drop

Can you handle it
Here's the cold hearted truth
Only craving the money the power the fame will never satisfy you

Nothings free in this world mother fucker
5x3 reality

You want it so bad
But you don't know what it means
There's no turning back
Once your in to deep

Can you handle it

Here's the cold hearted truth
Only craving the money the power the fame will never satisfy you.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Upon a Burning Body's song 5x3 are a critical analysis of the current generation's obsession with social media, fame, power and money. The opening line of the song, "Nothing's free in this world mother fucker," sets the tone for the rest of the song, emphasizing that every valuable thing in life comes with a cost. The line "Your 5x3 reality" refers to the dimensions of mobile phones and screens, suggesting that people's lives and perceptions are controlled by a small device that fits in their hands.

The lyrics continue to question the obsession with social media and the idea of living a fake life to get fame and attention. Before you double tap on what you wish you could be, understand that it might not be what you think. The line, "Only craving the money, the power, the fame will never satisfy you" emphasizes that pursuing wealth and popularity blindly will never bring satisfaction. The lines, "This life is not just the views from the top, Because the higher your head gets the faster you'll drop" suggests that just like the highs of social media, the lows are inevitable, and they come faster than one might expect.

The song's message is to encourage people to prioritize reality over perception and to realize the superficiality of fame and fortune. The lyrics force listeners to think critically about their choices and emphasize the importance of not falling too deep into a trap that is built around popularity, fame, and wealth.
