Lonely Nights
Uriah Heep Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Will you risk your reputation
I don't know
You just don't know
What you're saying
Anymore
You know beggars
Can't be choosers
And it's fair
We may win, we may be losers
I don't care, no no no

Oh baby, I just can't stand
Another lonely night
So come on over and save me
Save me from another lonely night

I hear every word you're saying
They're all lies
But with every breath you're taking
You're thinking of
Ways to say goodnight

Baby, I just can't stand
Another lonely night
So come on over and save me
Save me from another lonely night

Come on over
Come and save me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Uriah Heep's song Lonely Nights describe the desperation and loneliness of the singer, who seeks companionship and affection from someone else. The opening lines, "Will you risk your reputation, I don't know, you just don't know what you're saying anymore," suggest that the singer is willing to sacrifice their own honor or dignity to be with someone else. They are so consumed by their loneliness that they are willing to take risks and make compromises that they normally wouldn't.

The lyrics also touch on the theme of power dynamics in relationships. The line "You know beggars can't be choosers" implies that the singer may be in a subordinate position to the person they're addressing. They may feel like they have to accept whatever attention or affection they can get, even if it's not genuine or reciprocated.

Overall, the song conveys a sense of desperation and longing for human connection. The singer is willing to endure lies and manipulation from their romantic interest because the alternative - another lonely night - is too unbearable.

I never heard this one. Metal pioneers Uriah Heep covering Bryan Adams’s first U.S. hit. A faithful rendition.

I really love the 3 albums that Uriah heep did with peter goalby, abominog is considered as the last great album by many fans of the band while head first was the last album to enter the billboard album charts in the u.s.a and equator was the last album to enter the british album charts, he was the last great singer of the band, the present singer is good but not great
