Voyager
Us Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No ending, to the end of the world

Though it all seems like light years ago
There's no ending, no ending
Travelled so far but still not enough
There's no ending, no ending

I'm gonna go to the end of the world (x 3)

Come on, to the end of the world (x 3)

There's no ending
No ending
No ending

Surly bonds that only hold me down
Can't escape your orbit pulling me back
Termination shock won't stop you now
Energy to feed off, pulling me back (back)

Though it all seems like light years ago
There's no ending, no ending
Travelled so far but still not enough
There's no ending, no ending

Come on, to the end of the world (repeat to fade)

No ending (repeat to fade, in & out)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Us's song "Voyager" convey a sense of eternal exploration and a longing to discover the unknown. The phrase "No ending, to the end of the world" suggests that the journey being described is limitless, with no definitive destination or conclusion. It implies a continuous search for meaning and fulfillment, extending beyond the boundaries of our known existence.

The line "Though it all seems like light years ago" reflects a sense of distance and time passing by. It hints at the idea that the experiences and memories of the past are vast and extensive, but they do not diminish the desire to keep exploring. The repetition of "There's no ending, no ending" emphasizes the infinite nature of the journey, emphasizing a refusal to accept any finality.

"I'm gonna go to the end of the world" is a declaration of the singer's determination to push forward, regardless of the challenges or obstacles they may face. The repetition of this line further strengthens their resolution, as if they are reaffirming their commitment to reaching the furthest boundaries of existence.

The chorus "Come on, to the end of the world" serves as an invitation or encouragement to others to join in this exploratory quest. The repetition of "No ending" throughout the song creates a sense of continuity and reinforces the central theme of boundless exploration.

The final lines of the song, "Surly bonds that only hold me down / Can't escape your orbit pulling me back / Termination shock won't stop you now / Energy to feed off, pulling me back," indicate that despite any obstacles or constraints, the singer remains determined to continue their journey. The metaphor of being pulled back by an orbit or termination shock suggests that there may be forces trying to hinder their progress, yet they find strength in the energy they derive from the very obstacles they encounter.

Overall, the lyrics of "Voyager" describe an unending quest for discovery and the refusal to be limited by any boundaries. One thing that intrigues me is why it seems so many of these alien craft are crashing, either there's a extraordinary amount UFO's flying around with bad pilots or there is a number of competing alien species that might have conflicting agendas that lead to increasing rate of ufo accidents, or our atmosphere is somehow very difficult for some alien species to cope with. Just seems weird how so many ufo are cracking up on planet Earth if there not a huge number of them cruising around constantly.
