The original title is a clever pun indeed:
The Swedish word "världen" primarily has the meaning "the world", but can also - when the genitive clause is used ("världens") - be an "intensifier" - an expression to boost the strength of the noun that follows - like "quite some [...]" or "hell of a [...]".
The word "väsen" can both mean "being" (as in "human being") and something noisy (to make "väsen" is to "make a racket", "raise the roof" etc.)
Put together "världens väsen" can thus mean either "beings of the world" OR "quite som noise".
Seen in the light of this, the english "whirled" probably is a deliberate pun as well.
