Heartbeat
Vérité Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dark distant remarks are calling
To remind me what we are
Dim romantic sparks, we all fall down

So we can all cover our eyes
From explosions in the skies
Can you feel them burning?
Can't you feel the earth tilt?

Can you feel my heartbeat?
Pounding into nothing
Broken bones are floating
in my empty body
Can you feel it reaching?
Moving through the feeling
Won't you bring me down?
Won't you bring me down to size

Dark distant remarks are calling
To remind me what we are
Something I can't handle most of the time
And I know it's a surprise
How tall I stand sometimes
But I've written my goodbye on a folded napkin
Slipped inside your pocket
Before you left me standing
I knew you weren't listening

Can you feel my HEARTBEAT?
Pounding into nothing
Broken bones are floating in my empty body
Can you feel it reaching?
Moving through the feeling

Won't you bring me down?
Won't you bring me down to size

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Vérité's song "Heartbeat" depict a feeling of longing for connection and understanding in the midst of a chaotic and uncertain world. The opening lines describe the pervasive sense of unease that often accompanies our attempts to make sense of our experiences. This is further emphasized in the lines "Dim romantic sparks, we all fall down / So we can all cover our eyes / From explosions in the skies", which suggest that we are constantly searching for meaning and connection but are sometimes overwhelmed by the enormity of the task.

In the chorus, the singer asks "Can you feel my heartbeat? / Pounding into nothing / Broken bones are floating in my empty body", conveying a sense of existential angst and emotional vulnerability. Despite this, there is still a sense of hope and resilience in the defiance of the lines "Won't you bring me down? / Won't you bring me down to size". Ultimately, the song is a plea for connection and understanding, a reminder that we are all searching for meaning and understanding in a world that can often feel overwhelming and chaotic.

I guarantee you that changes very soon it takes a little while for people to glom onto good music and unfortunately it turns into shit most of the time like Coldplay for example they were great in the beginning now pop music crap for the massess

absolutley-I was inspired by it to try and do a house remix of it but could not get it to match some reason it is sometimes doesn't work but it does work with a dubstep beat so we'll see. Embarrassed to admit I just learned about her today as I was looking through sample library's and she put out , and it is basically stuff she made that people use as tools to make their own music and be creative ...I like her indie style and how she doesn't sell out -well not yet at least but when you're offered a $20 million record deal- it's pretty hard to not sign sign your soul away.

Too much nostalgia just jam-packed into a singular song. Damn it, I miss the old days!
