Stella
V.A. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ave, maris stella,
Dei mater alma,
atque semper virgo,
felix cœli porta.

Sumens illud Ave
Gabrielis ore,
funda nos in pace,
mutans Hevæ nomen.

Solve vincla reis,
profer lumen cæcis,
mala nostra pelle,
bona cuncta posce.

Monstra te esse matrem,
sumat per te precem
qui pro nobis natus
tulit esse tuus.

Virgo singularis,
inter omnes mitis,
nos culpis solutos
mites fac et castos.

Vitam præsta puram,
iter para tutum,

ut videntes Jesum
semper collætemur.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to V.A.'s song "Stella" are a prayer to the Virgin Mary, known as "Ave Maris Stella" or "Hail, Star of the Sea." The song praises Mary as the nurturing mother of God and the eternal virgin. She is referred to as the "felix cœli porta," which means the happy gate of heaven.

The lyrics begin by acknowledging Mary's role as the mother of God and the ever-virgin. "Ave, maris stella, / Dei mater alma, / atque semper virgo" translates to "Hail, star of the sea, / nurturing mother of God, / and always a virgin." This opening verse sets the tone for the rest of the prayer, expressing reverence and adoration for Mary.

In the next few lines, the lyrics mention the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel greeted Mary with the words "Ave" or "Hail." "Sumens illud Ave / Gabrielis ore, / funda nos in pace, / mutans Hevæ nomen" translates to "Receiving that 'Hail' / from Gabriel's mouth, / establish us in peace, / changing the name of Eve." Here, the prayer asks Mary to intercede for peace and to bring about a transformation akin to the reversal of Eve's sin.

The following verse addresses Mary as the one who can release sinners from their chains, bring light to the blind, banish evil, and request all good things from God. "Solve vincla reis, / profer lumen cæcis, / mala nostra pelle, / bona cuncta posce" translates to "Loose the chains of the guilty, / bring forth light to the blind, / banish our evils, / request all good things." This part of the prayer invokes Mary's intercession and her ability to mediate between humanity and God.

The final two verses call upon Mary to reveal herself as a mother and to receive our prayers, as her son, Jesus, was born to save us. The lyrics also ask Mary to make us gentle and chaste, freeing us from our sins. "Monstra te esse matrem, / sumat per te precem / qui pro nobis natus / tulit esse tuus. / Virgo singularis, / inter omnes mitis, / nos culpis solutos / mites fac et castos" translates to "Show yourself to be a mother, / may he accept our prayer through you / who, being born for us, / chose to be yours. / O unique virgin, / gentle among all, / make us, freed from sins, / gentle and chaste." This part of the prayer highlights Mary's role as a compassionate and merciful intercessor.

The final line prays for a pure life and a safe journey, so that we may always rejoice in the sight of Jesus. "Vitam præsta puram, / iter para tutum, / ut videntes Jesum / semper collætemur" translates to "Grant us a pure life, / prepare a safe journey, / so that beholding Jesus, / we may always rejoice." Ultimately, this prayer acknowledges Mary as a powerful and loving figure in the Christian faith and seeks her guidance and protection along life's journey.

These 2 a very different in speech patterns. Stella has been seen screaming almost all of her lines. While Odalia gets angry but doesn't scream and yell. Making certain lines I picked from Stella not entirely fit with Odalia and Vice Versa. If you want my opinion of these 2 outside of referring to them as bad mothers in the video description, well... I don't much care for them.

Let me know what you think of not only this voice swap video, but also about either of these characters down in the comments.

@mayracordero382

I don't care for both of them myself and I want to see sasha and andrea in the next voice swap video!

@jeremyusreevu237

I don't watch Helluva Boss so I can't really comment on Stella, but Odalia is a character I love to hate. Every time she speaks, I just want to punch her in the face. She's not only incredibly condescending and pretentious, but a horrible, egotistical person that's an awful mother in every sense of the word. The only good thing about her is that she isn't homophobic, but that's only because the concept of homophobia doesn't exist on the Boiling Isles.

@@mayracordero382Wait a minute, but didn’t he already just did a voice swap of Sasha and Andrea?

@boolittle122

I called it! I freaking called it! They're so much alike!

@mayracordero382

I didn't know so how about a voice swap of jinx from the ghost and molly mcgee and kikimora from the owl house?
