Overall Meaning

The lyrics of V.A. Sanft & Mutig Theme A.S.H.'s song "What goes on" speak about the transient nature of life and material possessions. Louis and Violet are really similar when you think about it, Louis is really sociable and seems confident when you see him at first sight but when you get to know him you notice that he is much less confident in him. than it seems. for violet its the opposite is when you get to know her that you discover all her confidence in her. Dude, I love how her playthrough isn't the same old boring choices. It's making me want to watch Walking Dead again. People who don't understand the game or can empathize with different types of thinking will probably prefer the vanilla choices but personally I really dig this.

I think the reason that some people chose Louis over Violet is the fact that survival, at some point, isn't the only thing you should be worried about. As Luke says in season 2: "You spend so much time trying to stay alive that you don't get a chance to enjoy living".

I also have a suspicion that that if the roles were reversed, and if they made Lois the protector and Violet the happy person, a lot of the same people would still pick Louis.

If Louis was made into a responsible leader that stepped up, had his stuff together, was tough, etc, the same people would pick him, maybe even more. Maybe there is something that has to do with gender? Even if people weren't homophones or whatever, there is always an unconscious bias that humans have.

I chose louis. But i agree with you, violet seems more capable in an apocalypse. The good thing about louis tho that he's very sweet especially when he's with clementine. It's super interesting, it's the first time I see a playthrough where the player picks choices that tend to turn A.J. into a killer but not actually doing so intentionally like "oh I'm gonna pick all the "bad" choices and turn AJ into a psycho". Many people stay super meta and pick what they feel are the "good" choices in order to keep the role of the "hero" but this playthrough show's that even if you feel like one of the "good guys" or "justified (as AJ often repeats) because your enemies are worse and the circumstances call for desperate measures, it's easy to fall into morally questionable actions and decisions. I find that narrative so much more interesting than the dichotomy counterpart of good vs evil.

The train scene always makes me cry because what I wouldn't give to be able to talk to someone like that who has passed and know that they are always watching me and stuff it honestly just is so emotional same with the party scene how it goes from upbeat to sad in a matter of seconds as they realize how many people they have lost and how many people they could potentially lose and then the song Violet sings makes it more real how pretty soon they will have to risk their lives to save all of their friends who are basically family at this point. This series is so good and I so wish they could have made one more season maybe one that expands upon the war that able was talking about.

The recap at the beginning really shows how Telltale tried to make Violet the better fighter, protector, partner for Clem compared to Louis, who they didn't give any cool scenes to or useful scenes other than distracting the walkers when they went to get food. They made Violet support you basically from the start other than initially blaming Clem for drawing walkers to them with the car crash. That was about the only time in Ep. 1 that she was rude. After that, she was all kind and caring to Clem and AJ while Louis turned into a jerk (mainly due to AJ killing his best friend.)

Personally, Violet had been the only choice since the first note of Clementine Louis started playing... though, I also ended with Jane at the end of season 2 which has a... very interesting lesson revealed in season 3.

Some say Louis could be Clementine's Omid to Christa. I always went for Violet (Appealed to, Go Fishing with, Bell Tower), but ended up saving Louis since I thought Violet could handle herself.

This episode is beautiful in so many ways.
First, with James, I like how Telltale brings up that there is something else inside the walkers, something that wasn't explored in the comic or the TV series (at least until the last season). The moment where Clem dances with Violet is also beautiful too. And the moments with AJ, without forgetting of course the moment of Clem and Lee, where we realize that when she feels worried she continues to "come to him" in some way, so cute 🥺

Finally, about Violeta or Louis... I think somehow Telltale tipped the scales a bit towards Violet, giving her more intelligent or productive actions. But that's okay, YOUR first spontaneous choice is the right one. Good game as always! 😊

For me, I think it's important to show the savage side of Clem, her dark side that keeps her alive but as well her mercy side. Torture Abel in the most brutal way, promise him a quick death, let AJ see, use a lie to gain vantages over people and always make that someone will be there to kill you if you turn. For me, I tried to keep that Clem and honestly, its better. The survivalist

It might be true but I don't pick trying to get a certain outcome. I choose based on being immersed in the character and choosing what I think they might do in that given moment. I’m pretty sure if you pick Louis to stand with you in episode 1 he’s a lot better. I think Violet and Louis are both around the same, they have benefits in different areas.

The whole Louis vs Violet debate is about idealism vs pragmatism (and was likely designed that way); there's no wrong decision, just an opinion on how you view the world, in this case meaning how Clem views this world she's living in. 100% back all decisions btw, but AJ needs to learn a little ammo conservation in the zombie apocalypse, lol.

No, the Delta would’ve succeeded in breaking her will to fight & indoctrinate her into thinking that siding with them was the best way for everyone to survive. Plus with Minerva’s help, Lilly would’ve had a much easier time swaying Violet into thinking Clem’s actions against the Delta would only get the rest of the Ericson group killed.
Least the boat explosion & Minerva abandoning her (again) would’ve broke this indoctrination for Ep.4, but Vi would’ve been left mostly blind by the explosion after failing to remove Willy’s bomb from the boiler.

I'm with Luis on this, because if you can't play, be happy or do the things you like, what's the point of continuing to live?

Luis just tries to keep the joy and positivity in the group, because he knows that a life without happiness is not a life, everyone recognizes Luis as someone who put smiles on people's faces, and that's something I really admire in a person, and being able to do these things during an Apocalypse, can I think it's crazy, but I think it's harder than it looks, not like he's useless either, after all he was captured saving your skin.

and the way you talk... it seems like surviving is all that matters, it doesn't seem like a life i'd like to live

I honestly think the same with the choice you made between Violet and Louis, I did not understand why they chose Louis because (according to me obviously) he had nothing good apart from being a boy (man, so the girls chose him for romance) and being funny, it's a zombie apocalypse you know!

I think they would get along.
Violet and Louis were friends, they just had a dynamic where he was the extrovert and she was sarcastic, and with Brody if they got on badly but treating her like shit, I think it's too extreme; And the thing about Erin, I mean, that was looooong before, they were probably kids.
And the last thing you wrote um ... I can't really consider it even giving it the benefit of the doubt because she always tried to help others by taking care of Tenn, going to the river even if she didn't get along with Brody (Louis according to what Marlon said it was a miracle that goes), when she confronted Mitch, she asked us about Lyly and James instead of drawing her conclusions quickly (in addition to everything Sarah said) and I'm only saying until the part where you have to choose who save ... I don't know, I said it was what I THOUGHT and I have played both routes so I can say it comparing according to my opinion.

as always I would like to express my opinions on the choices she made on this episode. Although I do agree with most of her choices on this one, the one that I don't agree with on is her killing Lily I can understand, Lily is evil and she deserves everything that's coming to her. And I know this is a game, but just because someone deserves to die, doesn't mean that you should kill them, or have someone else do it for you. Especially a little boy. you're teaching them that murder is OK, and it's not. at what point does it make you better than them. It doesn't, it makes you stoop to their level and that's not what you want especially for a child. violence doesn't beat violence, all the time. Again, I know this is a game. But think about if It were you. That's all I have to say. However, I do love your videos and I love the commentary that comes along with them. keep up the great work, you're amazing.

In the real world of course, no child needs to even touch a gun. But this is a fantasy world and a game at that. We don't need to take things too seriously.

The irony! Also remember there is a difference! People forget. I think LEE would spare Clem's innocence. I played as Lee making that decision remember? Didn't want her to have a lasting image of me. I'm not playing as LEE anymore! I am playing as CLEMENTINE. CLEMENTINE is turning AJ into a tough survivor. Remember, play the game as if I'm that person. Not from a third person. Clementine grew up in this world. Her childhood is lost. She doesn't really know otherwise. Lee grew up in a different world. His childhood was normal. He didn't have the burden Clementine had.

I didn’t mind the violet choice. I actually like her. I only disagree on the decision you made at the beginning of episode 2 when you told AJ he was justified in killing marlon when it was definitely murder and wrong on AJ’s part.
