On Friday my friend Amelia had a woodworking class with me in 7th grade…she looked at me in 7th period and asked sheepishly if I could do her homework as her family had a get together that Sunday and did not want a Zero-I happily accepted as I liked her secretly…during the weekend I helped her project and placed all plans in her little notebook she gave me on Sunday. I was excited to gain some “points” with her. On Monday she was not in class (had her in 3rd period also) there was an announcement in 4th period to please give a moment of silence for a student who who drowned in lake . My friend had died -Amelia. I clutched her homework tightly and began to cry. Students around me was like what is wrong? I am 56 years old and stil have her homework. On Wednesday afternoon I took my wife to the ER for breathing problems. Her oxygen was critically low and CO2 very high. They treated her with a bipap machine and her levels started to move in the right direction and she was moved to the ICU to continue treatment. On Thursday the doctor said she’d stay 3 or 4 days to be sure everything was stable and be released to go home. On Friday a lady from Hospice comes in and basically asks if she wanted to die there at the hospital or at home and we were in total shock. Now in a few hours a hospital bed and other medical equipment will be delivered to the house so she can come home for the last time, short of God performing a miracle. So I woke up in the early morning and this song came to mind as I was thinking of all the hopes and dreams that would go unrealized. It was a little over a year ago things were so different and we bought this house and we’re looking to life ahead together. But only weeks after getting moved in we both got Covid. I recovered but it took its toll on her already compromised lungs and she never was able to leave supplemental oxygen for very long. And so now as I think about the prospect of watching her die, essentially suffocating to death it is nearly too much. I’m bawling like a baby as try to write. But I’ve said many times that none of us are promised tomorrow and that became even more real this week. At least I have the comfort of knowing we have a relationship with Jesus and He is our Savior. We will meet again and have not just one more day, but an eternity of one more days. And then with new, whole bodies, with unlimited breath. Amen!

I just saw your comment and it hit home or me too. My wife went through the same thing. She had pneumonia and copd with chronic emphysema . The doctors barely brought her back the last time on bi-pap after 2 days in ICU in November. She passed on December 28. Had this house built 5 years ago to give her a nice place to live whether it be 1 month or 20 years. Trying to live life again without her is so hard. She was my strength and purpose everyday. Don't think one more day would ever be enough. My prayers go out to you. My wife was a believer and was an Angel, which was her name. It was fitting. l've had some of the longest days and nights of my life lately. Keep on keeping on is all we can do and keep the faith so we can see them again one day.

I lost my great grandpa 2017 a year after I moved out from living with him . he was the dad I never had really the only male figure I had in my life . I knew I had something special having my great grandpa with me til the age of 19 . Just didn’t understand how much of a honor it was to had known & had a man like my papa until he was gone . This is so true. I lost my son, six months later my son in law, several months later my brother, several more months later my sister in law, and then my son in laws father. Only my strong faith in Jesus Christ has brought me through the pain. Yes, I would like one more day, but like the song says you would just want another day with your loved one. As of December 10th 2023 I lost my Aunt... she was apart of my life for as far as I could remember.... she taught me many life lessons common sense.. life.... and or skills... . and so did my uncle... 3 years beforehand 2020 she lost my uncle Roy who she was married to for 40 years... she lost a piece of herself.. started drinking alot.... family and I tried everything right we could to get her up and moving forward.... it finally paid off last week when she was excited to go to rehab and restart her life.... only for us to lose her last night.... the most cherished memory I'll have is when my aunt and uncle offered me a beer when I joined the military at the ripe age of 17... everyone in the family was against it and refused the gesture but both my aunt and uncle Said these words (" if he's old enough to die for this country by God he's old enough to drink a damn beer") amd that will resonate through me until I die..... rip uncle Roy and aunt Carol 2020 and now December 10th 2023

My Granny, Virginia, who I watched struggle with Alzheimer’s for so long.
Charlie and Scott, two of my favorite people from my freshman year of college. Charlie died of a lung condition; Scott was killed in a car accident.
The love of my life, Brian, who proposed just a little too late. He’s been gone for over 20 years, after fighting Juvenile Diabetes his whole life.
My five babies who I never got to hold, but that I can see clearly in my mind.

My beautiful mother, who has been in the hospital since May 28th was found unresponsive Monday night. She was revived, but there is no sign of brain activity among other things. I know she is already gone, but just knowing she is physically here is somehow comforting.

I attended a Diamond Rio concert in Colorado before my husband and I married(the day we met in fact). I think it was the first concert I ever went to. Saw them again with my husband at a small concert in Breckenridge, CO. We enjoyed their songs together through the years. He passed away a year and a half ago at just age 48. Watching this song now sure brings memories back and tears to my eyes. What I wouldn’t give for one more day…but also knowing it just wouldn’t be enough….!

Whenever I hear this song I think of my mom. She’s been gone now 11 years on March 16. It still hurts as if it was yesterday!! She was an amazing Mother,Grandmother, woman and friend!! This brought tears to my eyes, every day i wish for just one more moment with my grandma who passed when i was 8 and my grandpa and great grandma both died in 2020 and then my brother died before i was born, i still wish i could have seen his face just once before he was gone, and my aunt died when i was a baby
My only living grandparent may not be here much longer either and im only 17 now loosing to many
My heart goes out to anyone struggling with the death of a loved one

Lost my first wife to leukemia 15 years ago. Crazy how the time slips away. I miss her so much. I’ve silently suffered with depression for a long time. I chose to stay a long time ago for my kids. I can’t imagine causing the pain I felt when she left this world to anyone else. Every heartbeat is precious. Choose to stay for her. She wanted to stay and she couldn’t.

I'm so sorry. I no you have a great feeling of loss. Just ni at John 5-28-29 she will have a resurrection back to a paradise earth. Psalms 37_10-11 and Psalms 37- 29. This song is for my aunt Katie, she just passed away last June. She had numerous cancers. She lived almost 20 years after her 1st diagnosis. She was and is the strongest person I have ever known. She was more then an aunt. She was my friend. I miss her very much!

I was dating a wonderful woman wondering where we were headed with our relationship. But enjoying every small amount of time we had together. We were driving around, and this song came on. I reached over, and grabbed her hand tight. This song summed up what I wanted with her....just one more day, with you. She was my best friend, my love. And I didn't want it to end. The song came out months before I eventually asked her to marry me. We have now been married 15 years. And every time I hear this song, it takes me back. I am so glad I heard it when I did, and it reminded me of how important is our time together. And I don't like country songs, but this one happened to hit the pop charts/radio here, and I am glad for that too, otherwise would have never heard this song.

I lost my brother 10 years ago when he was 25. Recently lost my father at 63 years old. He was never the same after my brother died. We played this song at my brothers funeral and it hits hard. It’s easy to forget the simple words stated in this song. I prey for every parent that has experienced the loss of a child. Please don’t take those special moments with family for granted.
