Too many bites
I feel like on high

So - do you wanna die?
We are the league
We're extraneous to you
We are the league
We are the anti-man
Without being seen
(So) don't play with me, fool!
We're league of the hell
And we are the strong
We are the league
We are the league
We are the league
The anti-christian league
When the moon is round
We're feeling the pain
Leaving the crypts
They are our domain
Blood suckin' race
Madness living in the eyes
No fuckin' mercy
You won't find it in us
We are the league
And we are the sin
We are the league
And we do always win
A fuckin' noise
You don't even know
A mighty ways
(Still) out of the law
We are giving a bliss
We are giving extasy
Eternal live
No ending fantasy
Joy on the earth
Joy in the hell
Unite with the league
We're unholy spell
We are the league
And we are insane
We are the league
And we have not the name
Without the souls
Our bodies supreme

I'm coming to bite
You know, what does it mean

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Vader's song We Are The League describe a group of blood-sucking creatures that are living a life of madness and pain in the crypts. These creatures identify themselves as the League, which is anti-Christian and anti-man. They take pride in their strength, and the fact that they always win. They warn anyone who dares to play with them and ask them if they want to die. They take pleasure in giving ecstasy and eternal life to their followers, both on earth and in hell. The lyrics portray the league as being invincible, insane, and terrifying creatures that people should fear.

The lyrics of the song reflect the band's identification with the punk rock subculture. The band takes pride in being outsiders, in being different from the mainstream culture, and embracing the anti-establishment ethos. The league described in the song represents the punk rock subculture, which is anti-religion, anti-authority, and anti- anything that is considered to be mainstream. The league stands for individual freedom, unconventional lifestyles, and self-expression. The league in the song is portrayed as being strong, invincible, and independent, which is a typical punk rock rebellion against the status quo.

@GreenLightMe

"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now, I am the master."

He did not say student. He said LEARNER. Learn to read.

...

He did not say 18 years. He never said 18 years, ever, and he wouldn't have said it because ROTS occurred in 19 BBY, aka19 years before the events of A New Hope.

Attentive Dragon

When Obi-Wan said "I have failed you" on Mustafar, he still hadn't really accepted what had happened to his apprentice. He was in the middle of a duel. He was still angry and still in denial. When he shouted afterwards about having been Anakin's brother, he was in the midst of anger and grief. Anger and Denial, with a bit of Bargaining. The classical stages of grief.

Everything after that was Depression. He wasn't hiding from the Empire. He was hiding from himself, unwilling to confront what he saw as his own failure. The Force wouldn't respond to him because he felt he was unworthy of it. He blamed himself for everything that happened.

Having something to fight for gave him strength to win this duel, but it's that final conversation with Anakin that finally pushes Obi-Wan into Acceptance. When he finally tearfully apologizes, he's finally having a conversation he was denied in their previous duel while Anakin lay there screaming "I hate you" and burning. He's able to convey to Anakin how sorry he truly is for everything that happened, how he failed to see his friend's pain until it was too late to help him. And I think Anakin, in a way, is responding to that genuine emotion from Obi-Wan. The Vader part of him doesn't mean to reassure him by saying "you didn't kill Anakin, I did." That's just Vader's usual self-justification still at work, convincing himself that turning to the Dark Side was some great victory and not the loss of everything he had ever held dear. But that justification is everything Obi-Wan needed to hear, and maybe, just maybe, there's that tiny spark of Anakin still in there that actually delivered that line. Maybe it's not all Vader, at least for a moment, before Anakin is subsumed again and lost. Either way: Obi-Wan can finally accept that Anakin is gone, finally remember him as the man he was, as a good friend, and see him as a separate person from the Dark Lord he's just utterly defeated.

Now, as a Jedi, sitting in a place of acceptance where he can move on, he's able to turn away. He doesn't need to kill Vader now. It would be foolish to: it would draw the Empire down upon him like he'd never seen before. Better to just disappear again. Beyond that, however, he doesn't need to take vengeance for Anakin. He's humiliated his murderer, and come to a place of acceptance. He's seen the fire in Leia. He's been watching Luke. He knows that the time is still not right for the Jedi to return, but that there is a new generation growing (that he has helped to nurture and protect) that will carry on the fight in the future. He can step aside: not to hide from the Empire or from himself any longer, but to pass on the torch. When the Force brings Luke to him, as he knows it must someday, he will be ready to pass on what he has learned.

And in the meantime, the creature that remains of what used to be Anakin can stew in its own hate. The suffering it is enduring is beyond any punishment Obi-Wan could deliver. Vader is beneath him, and he moves on, because there are more important things to think of now.

Whoever decided to mix Vader's voice with Anakin's in the end deserves a raise

@sithius99 a fight that never should have happened and series that added nothing to the story. this is all we need this days? some lights and action?

Michal Gajdos

no one who worked on this crap deserves anything. absolute fanservice without having a second thought on a story. This series shows exactly what is wrong with movies-series these days. compare this with andor. Absolute trash that should not have been made and ť hours that added nothing to the story.shitting on legacy of obi wan.

@Stu NUFC1986 Well said. While I've always thought this scene is executed fairly well, the fact that it was so obviously parroted from Rebels always bothered me a bit. You know, does SW always have to be so self-referential and all that. Do something new and original that can live and breathe on it's own merits, and that will deepen the narrative as a whole without the need for cheap call backs. I mean, thank god for Andor, right?

That said, and not to delve too much into the "it's like poetry, it rhymes" BS, you do offer a rather, um, poetic take on this happening twice, that results in a satisfying bit of symbolism for all the characters involved. I see that repetition in something of a new ,more nuanced, and thus more favorable light now, so thank you for that.

Agreed!

Big fucking raise

The Saber colors changing on Vaders face as he switches between Anakin and who he is now is truly amazing, how the blue comes in so strong when Vader responds as Anakin, just to be taken over by red as he claims he will destroy Obi Wan. It's amazing

Imagine being him..

I think this is the maximum of what a master could handle

@civilwildman  it definitely does seem like he isn't 100% aware of his shifts in perspective. I totally see that
