Vampire Rodents Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sum et ad hoc veni in mundum
Non habares potestatum
Adversum me ullam
Ego inlinato capite
Tradidit spiritum
Abierunt retrosum, et ceciderunt in terram
Ecce mater tua!
Consummatum est
Sitio, sitio, sitio
The song "Sitio" by Vampire Rodents is a haunting and cryptic piece of music. The Latin phrases used in the lyrics add an air of mystery and intrigue to the song. The opening line "Ego in hoc natus, sum et ad hoc veni in mundum" translates to "I was born for this and I came into the world for this." This line suggests that the person singing the song is here for a specific purpose or mission.
The next few lines "Non habares potestatum, adversum me ullam" mean "You have no power against me." This could be interpreted in a few ways. It could suggest that the person singing the song is invincible or it could be a challenge to whoever they are addressing. The line "Ego inlinato capite tradidit spiritum" means "With bowed head, he gave up his spirit." This line is saying that someone has died or given up their life. The following lines "Abierunt retrosum, et ceciderunt in terram, dixerunt, ego ei quid est veritas?" can be translated to "They went back and fell to the ground, saying, 'What is the truth?'" This section of the song could be interpreted as a commentary on the nature of truth and the struggle to find it.
Finally, the song ends with the repeated line "Sitio, sitio, sitio" which means "I thirst." This line adds to the overall feeling of loneliness, despair, and longing that the song conveys. Through the use of Latin phrases, the band has created a sense of mystique and enigma around the song, allowing the listener to interpret the lyrics in their own way.
