The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Got to meet her the next day after the Kansas City show a couple of years back.
Last year's show, she almost ran over me when she came off the elevator the next morning with her luggage 🧳 🧳 🧳. LOL 😂
They were all running to get in the van for their next gig (Saturday evening) in the next state over.
Lord willing, I hope to see them in about two weeks (this will be my third time).

Just listened to this song again.
Last year's show, Ksenia steps to the microphone 🎤 and says "I've got a little surprise for you ' - I had NO idea what was coming next.
Then they launched into this song and I was completely blown away by her performance.
Their videos are awesome but let me tell you, it's even better in person when they do this song.
It was like thunder ⚡⚡⚡.
I couldn't believe that I was finally hearing this old Chaka Khan song and nearly 4 decades later I'm finally hearing the song as it was meant to be performed.

@@zigman8550I made it to the Kansas City September 2023 show. Yes they did the song; awesome.
After the show, I got pictures with Igor, Konstantin, Oleg and Leonid separately. First time I officially met Oleg and Leonid.
Igor and Konstantin both remembered speaking with me 2 years ago. Show was 3 hours long.
I said to Konstantin "God bless you" and Konstantin said "God bless you!" back to me.
All the guys were super great.
We were applauding in the hotel lobby. A lady started it so I joined in.
We made a bit of a ruckus as they were heading off to the elevator. After Igor or Konstantin pics.

The most amazing thing about this group is that most of them cannot understand or speak English, which proves the tremendous power of music. When Leonid started this group he didn’t have any of the music sheets, didn’t understand English, and sometimes didn’t even have proper instruments (they made guitars from spare parts). He transcribed the music onto paper by isolating each sound, instrument, and voice, individually. Most people don’t realize what musical talent, perfect pitch, and knowledge is necessary to do this. It truly is an amazing accomplishment, especially on the part of Leonid, and he is so humble he simply plays among the musicians as if he is only a background bass guitarist. What a guy!
We have seen them every time they’ve come to the Atlanta/Tennessee/Carolina area; this Friday will be the fourth time. We can’t wait to see them again; they’re a great, friendly group of people.
