The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

So what you see is only half the story,
There's another side of me.
I'm the girl you know, but I'm someone else, too,
If only you knew.
It's a crazy life,
But I'm alright.
I'm living the dream.
So, yeah, everything I've always wanted,
Is it always what it seems?
I'm a lucky girl,
Whose dreams came true.
But who really needs it all?
I'm just like you.
I've got everything I've always wanted,
Is it always what it seems?
I'm a lucky girl,
Whose dreams came true.
But underneath it all,
I'm just like you
The lyrics of "Just Like Honey" by Various Artists delve into the complex nature of identity and the dichotomy between the public persona and the private self. The opening lines, "So what you see is only half the story, There's another side of me," hint at the idea that the image we present to the world is not necessarily an accurate representation of who we truly are. The singer reveals that while they may appear as the person others know them to be, there is also a hidden aspect to their identity that others are unaware of.
The song explores the notion of living a seemingly perfect life, having achieved all the goals and dreams one has desired. The lines "I've got everything I've always wanted, I'm living the dream," express the fulfillment of these aspirations. However, the questioning tone in the next line, "Is it always what it seems?" suggests a sense of disillusionment or a realization that material success does not equate to genuine satisfaction or happiness.
The chorus emphasizes the relatability of the singer's experience, as they declare "But who really needs it all? I'm just like you." Despite their apparent fortune and success, they acknowledge that they are fundamentally no different from anyone else. This acknowledges a common human desire for connection and understanding, reminding listeners that behind the façade, we all share similar emotions and experiences.
Overall, "Just Like Honey" provides a contemplative reflection on the complexities of identity, the pursuit of dreams, and the underlying commonalities between individuals.

(lyrics because sometimes it is so annoying to look for them while listening to the music)
Listen to the girl
As she takes on half the world
Moving up and so alive
In her honey dripping beehive
Beehive
It's good, so good, it's so good
So good
Walking back to you
Is the hardest thing that
I can do
That I can do for you
For you
I'll be your plastic toy
I'll be your plastic toy
For you
Eating up the scum
Is the hardest thing for
Me to do

Years ago, a girl I was dating was killed in a car accident. One night soon there after, I was listening to the local alternative radio station. I thought it fitting to call and request a song for her. I got through, but the DJ didn't have the song I wanted. However, he said he had a good song in mind. He played this song.
