Ooh, my little pretty one, my pretty one
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona
Ooh, you make my motor run, my motor run
Got it comin' off o' the line, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
My, my, my, aye-aye, whoa!
M-m-m-my Sharona
Come a little closer, huh, a-will ya, huh?
Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona
Keepin' it a mystery, it gets to me
Runnin' down the length of my thigh, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
My, my, my, aye-aye, whoa!
M-m-m-my Sharona
M-m-m-my Sharona
When you gonna give to me, a gift to me
Is it just a matter of time, Sharona?
Is it d-d-destiny, d-destiny
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona?
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
My, my, my, aye-aye, whoa!
M-m-m-my, my, my, aye-aye, whoa!
M-m-my Sharona
M-m-my Sharona
M-m-my Sharona
M-m-my Sharona
Ooooooo-ohhh, my Sharona

Ooooooo-ohhh, my Sharona
Ooooooo-ohhh, my Sharona

Overall Meaning

"My Sharona" by The Knack is a classic rock song from 1979 that became an instant hit upon its release. The lyrics of the song tell the story of a man named Doug Fieger, the lead singer of the band, and his infatuation with a young woman named Sharona Alperin, who was only 17 years old when he met her. The song is filled with sexual innuendos and a sense of urgency that conveys Fieger's pursuit of Sharona. The song's catchy melody and energetic guitar riffs make it a quintessential rock anthem of the 1970s.

The first verse of the song introduces the listener to Fieger's obsession with Sharona, as he sings "Ooh, my little pretty one, my pretty one. When you gonna give me some time, Sharona? Ooh, you make my motor run, my motor run. Got it comin' off o' the line, Sharona." Fieger is expressing his desires and lust for Sharona, and the imagery of his motor running and "comin' off o' the line" suggest that he is eager to engage in sexual activity with her.

In the second verse, Fieger continues to describe the physical attraction he has to Sharona, saying "Come a little closer, huh, a-will ya, huh? Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona. Keepin' it a mystery, it gets to me. Runnin' down the length of my thigh, Sharona." He is essentially begging Sharona to give him the attention he desires, but at the same time, he is acknowledging that the mystery and excitement of the chase is what is driving him wild.

Ultimately, "My Sharona" is a song about a man's intense infatuation with a woman and his desire to be with her. The lyrics are filled with sexual energy and a sense of urgency that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of rock music in the 1970s.

"I don't remember the solo, so it won't be right"... In other words, "I'm gonna throw something together on the fly, and it's still gonna be awesome!". I freaking love Phil X!

Viñceñt 'IcyFire' Geetar

@Viñceñt 'IcyFire' Geetar come on now, no way...if anything it's a testament to how good Berton Averre was

Lance Jones

@Viñceñt 'IcyFire' Geetar Well, the original is the original. It will always be great. I do like it though when someone plays a lead to a song and even though it isn't exactly the same, it rocks. Love the mixing on this video, you hear each instrument perfectly and I love how heavy Phil's guitar sounds.

For a solo that he said he didn’t remember and that it was going to be wrong, sounded pretty damn good.
