The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.
Compilation albums, for example.
Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.
Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.
Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.
Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say hello
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Til the blue skies
Drive the dark clouds far away
So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them it won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singin' this song
"We'll Meet Again" is a timeless classic that was written by English musical composition Ross Parker and lyricist Hughie Charles in 1939. It was made famous by British singer Vera Lynn during World War II, as it became an anthem for those separated from their loved ones by the war. The song is a message of hope and optimism, sung from the perspective of a person who doesn't know when or where they will be reunited with their loved one, but is certain that it will happen. The opening lines, "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when," express the uncertainty of the future, but the phrase "some sunny day" adds a note of optimism and suggests that the future will be brighter.
The song also emphasizes the importance of keeping a positive attitude and maintaining a sense of humor through difficult times, as demonstrated in the line "keep smiling through, just like you always do, till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away." The song's lyrics are highly relatable, as anyone who has experienced a long separation from a loved one can identify with the sense of longing and hope expressed in the song.
Overall, "We'll Meet Again" is a moving and uplifting song that has resonated with people across generations and cultures. Its message of hope and optimism is powerful and universal, making it a timeless classic that will continue to be beloved for generations to come.

Hey everyone, thanks for helping this cover song to go past 500k views! As my first attempt at singing in character our favourite Radio Demon, combined with my love for music of the era the original was written, I was genuinely unsure as to how it would be received compared to what I had done before. But your continued support and praise for this song really is a huge encouragement, especially in regards to pushing myself musically with what I make.
Stick with me, there's always more to come.
