Various Artists Lyrics

You said, "Ask and you will receive
Whatever you need"
You said, "Pray and I'll hear from heaven
And I'll heal your land"

You said, "Your glory will fill the earth
Like water, the seas"
You said, "Lift up your eyes
The harvest is here, the kingdom is near"

You said, "Ask and I'll give the nations to you"
Oh Lord, that's the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands will see Your light
As it rises on us

You said

You said, "Your glory will fill thve earth
Like water, the seas"
You said, You said, "Lift up your eyes
The harvest is here, the kingdom is near"

You said, "Ask and I'll give the nations to you"
Oh Lord, that's the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands will see Your light
As it rises on us

You said, "Ask and I'll give the nations to you"
Oh Lord, that's the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands will see Your light
As it rises on us

You said, "Ask and I'll give the nations to you"
Oh Lord, that's the cry of my heart
Distant shores and the islands will see Your light
As it rises on us

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "You Said" by Various Artists speak about the Word of God and His promises. The song is a prayer to God to fulfill His promises and bless His people, as stated in the Bible. The chorus talks about asking and receiving from God, how His glory will fill the earth, and that the kingdoms and harvest are near. The song inspires the listeners to have faith in God's promises and to seek Him earnestly.

The first verse of the song reflects on the words of God from Mathew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." The refrain of the song reflects the promise of God in the Bible, which says how He will give the nations to those who seek Him. This phrase expresses the spiritual hunger of the singer who is asking for God's Holy presence in his life and for His blessings to be bestowed on those who worship Him.

The second stanza talks about God's promise to heal the land and fill the earth with His glory. It is a proclamation of God's sovereignty and the singer's faith in His power. The last lines of the song exalt God's might and glory with a fervent cry of adoration.

@@misspbrown2566 just trying to come to a better understanding of actual problems and reasonable paths to solutions, simple this.
wrong is wrong and if so should obviously be dealt with..and repeated transgressions no wonder outcry.
so more stand with you as i then not and i would say [not u] to not turn ones that stand with in a sense against..
im trying to understand and also don’t mind being corrected but try to also relate with others cause at this moment and for the past 40+ years my peoples have been through hell and no coming back but repeated hells down grade level’d levels have been reached and currently leveling bellow lowest felt.
so as human we can relate but it’s a two way street..
black folks are not the only ones suffering and not unique to just your communities but a human thing some like afghans having it much much much worse with civil wars, invasion, terrorism etc etc ..
millions upon millions killed, million like us displaced etc but im personally not having petty party [not that u are] but with all things experienced which is much more then you’d think forwards and onwards..
this not to negate suffering had and presently but s way to actually be able to deal with it effectively that’s all
cause my understanding is if your in an emotionally heightened state your not thinkin straight basically..and you could do things and regret as example.

What's crazy is that this original song by Janelle was made in 2015 and was simply updated with new names and only women. It's still relevant, and that feels so sad.

@smilealwaysnatasha3423

@@Kasia3127 Thank you!

@salsalsalsalsalsal3094

Not only that, but the song is now over three times longer and I feel like that only drives the point home further. It's just heartbreaking and infuriating. No more names should be added to this list
