McDaid and Fox are from Ireland, McLellan is from Canada, where he is regarded as one of the country's top drummers, and Gainsford is from New Zealand. Vega4 were signed to Columbia Records in the UK, Epic Records in the USA, and have an album You and Others produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party).
Gavin Fox, formerly of the band Idlewild, joined Vega4 in December 2006 when bassist Simon Walker left.
Vega4 premiered in the US when their single "Life is Beautiful" was featured on the November 2, 2006 episode of "Grey's Anatomy."
"Life Is Beautiful" was also recently featured on Episode 416, 'Prom Night At Hater High', of One Tree Hill.
Vega4 topped the Irish charts in the last quarter of 2006 and broke sales records, with their hit "You and Me", when it was used by RTÉ 2fm to re-launch the station's new look and lineup. The band wrapped up their first U.S. tour on April 14, 2007 in San Diego, California. Vega4 had been touring with Augustana for the previous several weeks. The band received much media attention in the U.S. with major radio support for "Life Is Beautiful" and the rumors of Gainsford's on-again, off-again romance with Scarlett Johansson.

Vega 4 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm just not that strong
I can't think of anything
That's not come undone
You came in our new bed
I loved to see you lost
Your eyes were closed
Turn on all the lights
Make it louder
Shock this heart to life
Burst it open
Shout out secrets, shout
Shout out louder
Love like the first time
Start from nothing
It's not just that I wanted to be
The one that was strong
The one that could pull us up off
Of our knees
We lay in our new bed
And I could hear you breathe
Your eyes were closed
Keep your eyes closed
I love it when you're lost
Turn on all the lights
Make it louder
Shock this heart to life
Burst it open
Shout out secrets, shout
Shout out louder
Love like the first time
Start from nothing
The lyrics to Vega 4's song "Boomerang" convey a sense of personal struggle and the desire for renewed passion in a relationship. The singer reflects on his own shortcomings, admitting that he is not the man he wanted to be and doesn't feel particularly strong. He feels like everything in his life has fallen apart, leaving him with a sense of directionless confusion.
However, the song takes a turn towards hope as the singer describes the intimacy between himself and his partner. Despite his own failings, he finds comfort and excitement in their shared experiences. He implores his partner to turn up the lights and make the music louder, to give their hearts a jolt of energy to help reignite the spark between them. He encourages shouting out secrets and experiencing love as if it's the first time, starting from nothing. Through this, the singer is expressing a desire to find a fresh start and renewed passion in his relationship, regardless of his own personal struggles.
