Muad'dib
Vendetta Red Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If caution cuts your cord I'll sever everything
Cause I can't stand hanging out pretending I'm okay
Regretting things I did and things I couldn't say
Wept and walked away, whispered weird
Finally face me now
It's alright if you hate yourself
I can show you how
To wake me up this time
And all my friends just laugh at me
Cause I don't wanna get high
These lyrics are from the song Muad’dib by Vendetta Red. The song talks about standing up for oneself and not pretending to be okay with things that hurt us. The line “If this is your jihad then I am muad’dib” refers to the singer in Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel “Dune”. The character's name is Paul Atreides, but he is later called “Muad'dib” after going into the desert and leading a group of people called Fremen to fight against the corrupt government. In the song, the lyrics imply that if the listener has a cause they are fighting for, then the artist is with them, ready to cut ties with anything that holds them back.
The next line, “If caution cuts your cord I'll sever everything” is a powerful statement of solidarity. It means that if the listener needs help breaking free from anything that holds them down, the artist will be there even if it means ending every tie that they have with their past. The next few lines describe the artist’s struggle with anxiety and regret about things they've done or said. But, in the end, they are ready to face their fears and help others do the same.
Overall, the song is about breaking free and standing up for oneself even if it means facing fears and past mistakes. It is a message of self-awareness and self-help that encourages listeners to take control of their lives.
