End of the World
Venice Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And when I think of losing more
Well it makes me mad
Losing beauty well it brings me down
And with everything we've gained well we're losing ground
Every time I turn another corner
Seems that someone else is doing wrong
Seems there's something there that don't belong
When it feels like the end of the world my dear
I need you here
When it feels like the end of the world my love
Will you help me rise, rise above
No more father, no more son
No more running from the man that I've become
Too much freedom but nothing's free
So I try to make some sense of what's to be
'Cause every day I wake up and I wonder
How a blessing could become a curse
And every night I pray it's getting better
But I find it's only getting worse

The song "End Of The World" by Venice expresses a sense of loss and frustration with the state of the world. The first verse begins with the idea of losing faith, which is a sad realization. As the singer reflects on more things that they have lost, they become angrier. They touch on losing beauty, which is a metaphor for the world becoming uglier or less pleasant. They also mention that despite any gains we may have made, we are still losing ground somehow. The second verse paints a picture of a world full of wrongdoings and things that don't belong. The singer feels overwhelmed by the problems of the world and feels like it's the end of the world. The refrain is a plea for help in rising above the negativity and finding hope.
The song is a commentary on the disheartening state of the world and the singer's personal struggle to make sense of it all. They feel like they are losing the things that make life worth living and are frustrated by the problems they see around them. Despite this, they still have hope that they can rise above it all with the help of someone they love.

So glad people are discovering Venice in 2023. Have been a fan of these guys for the last 36 years. David Crosby always talked about them and has done songs with them. I remember watching the Lennon sisters with my mom. So cool to see how their sons keep the legacy alive! 🤠🧑🦰🌲🌲 🎼
@pptoas
Just discovered this band and have done nothing but listen to their music the whole day! These guys are great! Discovered them via a video of Jeff "Skunk" Baxter performing "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" a Steely Dan tune, and I was blown away. Can't believe I haven't heard of them before, I am so not in the loop.

Love this track. Brilliant harmonies from the singers and the guitarists. Guitar harmonies always lift the tune and in this one - wow. Venice definitely one of my favourite groups for the obvious care and dedication to getting it right and beautiful.
