Petrichor
Verona Lights Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Than the condensation on the outside wall?
Who am I? I can try to find a better life.
Knowing now, what has come,
What could never be undone.
Open eyes, open mind,
Find a better way,
A better way inside.
A better way.
I'm relearning all my fears,
I am fighting back the tears,
But I was never here.
Dripping down on the pane,
Rain is washing me again.
Find the real, distant memories,
Drops of empty promises.
This reality is crumbling,
Smaller pieces in my hand.
Through the fog forever tumbling,
Find the strength to finally stand.
(Knowing now, what has come)
This reality is crumbling,
(What could never be undone)
Smaller pieces in my hand.
(Open eyes, Open mind)
Through the fog forever tumbling,
(Find a better way, a better way inside)
Find the strength to finally stand.
I'm relearning all my fears,
I am fighting back the tears,
But I was never here.
In Verona Lights's song "Petrichor," the lyrics speak to the introspective journey of the singer as they search for and question the meaning of life. The song starts off with the statement "What if life is nothing more, than the condensation on the outside wall?" which may be interpreted as a metaphor for the temporal and fleeting nature of life. The singer goes on to ask themselves "Who am I? I can try to find a better life," questioning their identity and seeking to improve their existence. The chorus repeats the phrase "A better way inside," hinting at the theme of self-discovery and the need to look within oneself for answers.
The second verse explores the singer's inner struggles and their attempt at self-improvement. The line "I'm relearning all my fears, I am fighting back the tears, but I was never here" suggests a struggle to overcome past traumas and to come to terms with one's own existence. The reference to "drops of empty promises" hints at a sense of disillusionment with the world, and the idea that reality is "crumbling" and slipping away from them. However, the singer continues to search for hope and strength, seeking to "find the strength to finally stand."
Overall, "Petrichor" portrays a journey of self-discovery and the search for meaning in life. Through introspection and self-improvement, the singer seeks to find a better way forward and come to terms with their existence.
