In March 2006, Maggio released her debut single "Dumpa mig" (Dump Me); the video for the single soon became the hit of the week on TV stations like ZTV. Her other single after "Dumpa mig" was the song "Nöjd?" (Satisfied?). She signed a contract with Universal Music and went on a tour in Summer 2006. Maggio's debut album was titled Vatten & bröd (Water and Bread). The lyrics and music were written by Stefan Gräslund, except for the rap verse in "Vi har, vi har (feat. LKM)" (We Have, We Have), which was written by LKM Kristoffer Malmsten.
On March 26, 2008, Maggio released her second album – Och vinnaren är... (And the Winner Is...), which she wrote and recorded together with Oskar Linnros. In 2009 she enjoyed success in Norway and Denmark with her single "Måndagsbarn " (Monday child) reaching 1st position at the Norwegian charts, as well as being A-listed on the Norwegian radio station NRK P3, and the album Och vinnaren är... broke into the top 40 albums list. The single "17 år" (17 years) also achieved considerable success, earning a gold certification in Sweden.
In February 2011, Maggio released "Jag kommer" (I'm coming) as the lead single from her third studio album, Satan i gatan. The song topped the singles chart in Sweden, spending 68 weeks on the chart. It was later certified 7x platinum, earning over 85 million streams on Spotify. Upon the album's release on April 27, 2011, it became her first Swedish number one album and the best-selling album of 2011. Furthermore, every track debuted within the top 30 of the singles chart, including 5 top 10 hits. It has since been amongst the best-selling albums of every year since, most recently at number 9 in 2021. As of 2022, the album has over 415 million combined streams on Spotify. "Välkommen in" (Welcome In) was selected as the album's second single, peaking at number 2 and reaching over 65 million streams on Spotify to date. Despite never being released as singles, "Satan i gatan" and "Snälla bli min" (Please Be Mine) have both spent over 30 weeks on the Swedish singles chart and earned over 50 million streams on Spotify each.
The follow-up to Satan i gatan came in the form of Handen i fickan fast jag bryr mig in 2013. It was another huge success, become one of the longest charting albums ever in Sweden with 378 weeks on chart, or over 7 years. It produced the hit singles "Hela huset" (The Whole House) and "Sergels torg" which both reached the top 10 of the Swedish single chart. All of the album's 11 tracks earned positions in the top 40.
Since 2013, Veronica Maggio has released the number one albums Den första är alltid gratis (The First One is Always Free) and Fiender är tråkigt (Enemies is Boring). These contained the top 10 hits "Vi mot världen" (Us Against the World), "Kurt Cobain", "Tillfälligheter" (Coincidences) and "5 minuter" (5 Minutes). 2019 was a particularly successful year, with "Tillfälligheter" becoming the 13th biggest song of 2019, "Hornstullsstrand" reaching number one and Fiender är tråkigt racking up over 140 weeks on the albums chart.
Maggio's latest album Och som vanligt händer det något hemskt (And as usual, something terrible is happening) was released on 20 May 2022, and was preceded by the hit singles "SE MIG" (See Me), "Varsomhelst/Närsomhelst" (Anywhere/Anytime) and "Heaven med dig" (Heaven with You). "SE MIG" was the most played song of summer 2021 on Swedish radio.
Maggio went to high school in Uppsala on Bolandsskolan's music line and was also the lead singer of the group Solitude, with other members Daniel Fredriksson, Marcus "Gonzo" Berglund, Karl Jansson, and Kristoffer Hoflund.
