Vertigo
Vertigo Feat. DJ Josu Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Uno, dos, tres, catorce

(Turn it up loud, captain)

Lights go down, it's dark
Your jungle is your head
Can't rule your heart
A feeling so much stronger than
I thought your eyes are widened
Though your soul, it can't be bought
Your mind can wander

Hello, hello (hola!)
I'm at a place called vertigo (dónde está)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
Except you give me something
I can feel
Feel

The night is full of holes
There's bullets ripping sky
Of ink, with gold
They twinkle as the boys
Play rock and roll
They know that they can't dance
At least they know

I can't stand the beats
I'm asking for the check
Girl with crimson nails
Has Jesus 'round her neck
Swinging to the music
Swinging to the music

Hello, hello (hola!)
I'm at place called vertigo (dónde está)
It's everything I wish I didn't know
But you give me something
I can feel
Feel

(Check it)
(???)
(???)

All of this
All of this can be yours
All of this
All of this can be yours
All of this
All of this can be yours
Just give me what I want
And no one gets hurt

Hello, hello (hola!)
We're at a place called vertigo (dónde está)
Lights go down and all I know
Is that you give me something

I can feel your love teaching me how
Your love is teaching me how
How to kneel
Kneel

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Overall Meaning

The song "Vertigo" by U2 is about the feeling of being overwhelmed and lost in the chaos of the world, but finding solace in someone who gives you a sense of purpose and direction. The lyrics start off by setting the scene with the lights going down and the feeling that one's head is a jungle that cannot be ruled by the heart. Despite this, however, the person finds a feeling that is much stronger than they expected and their eyes are widened to the world around them. The chorus repeats the titular phrase "hello, hello, I'm at a place called vertigo" which can be interpreted as being lost or disoriented in life.

The second verse describes a night filled with danger and excitement; bullets rip through the sky and boys play rock and roll. Even though the beats of the music are too much for the singer to handle, they are given something they can feel by their companion. The third verse then takes a dark turn as the singer demands what they want, setting up a sense of danger that was only hinted at in the previous verses. The chorus then ends with the final lines "your love is teaching me how, how to kneel," which can be seen as a metaphor for finding guidance and a sense of purpose in a loving relationship.
