The Porter
Vetiver Lyrics

bagman for wars never won
i carried the noose
buried the gatling gun
duration
i lived off dust & tumbleweeds
dressed in a denim suit
pulled up their towns by the roots
sensation
always did well with the womenfolk
promises never i made
tried when i could
left when i said i would stay
salvation
the fish feast on
the bodies of
the dead down in the sea
while i walk the land permanently
vibration
In Vetiver's song "The Porter," the singer reflects on a long life as a porter and bagman, carrying the burdens of war and violence with him over the centuries. He has buried the evidence of this violence - the gatling gun - and has even been responsible for ending lives, carrying the noose. These actions seem to have taken their toll on the singer, as he describes himself living "off dust & tumbleweeds" and seems to be begging for some kind of redemption or release.
Despite the darkness that surrounds him, the singer does find something to hold onto - the womenfolk. He implies that he has been with many women, but he does not make promises to them. He may only be able to offer his body, but at least he is honest about what he can provide. The final image in the song is a striking one - the fish feasting on the bodies of the dead down in the sea, while the porter walks the land permanently. This seems to suggest a kind of purgatory, where the singer is unable to escape the violence and death that he has been a part of.
Overall, "The Porter" is a haunting and melancholy reflection on a life weighed down by the burden of violence and war. The singer seems almost resigned to his fate, but still holds onto the hope of some kind of salvation or release from his past actions.

The fragrance I like the best from this list is definitely EA Code Absolu, I bought it recently after wearing DG The One ever since it was released, but I've always found the performance lacking so I wanted to find something new and different to become my new signature scent and I am so grateful that I found Codu Absolu and that was all thanks to you!

Wanted By Night is my favorite scent in my collection! It’s so unique and seems to get better every time I smell it. Waiting for Halloween Man X to deliver today. Thank you for the videos and recommendations. Would love a solid BR fragrance to add to the collection 😉

The knowledge about perfumes this man possess is phenomenal... Also his videos has got a bit of sarcasm which is why i prefer @GentsScent than other perfume channels

Absolutely agree with you on the Amouage Interlude Black Iris. Retains the unique "gothic cathedral" aspect of the original, but smoothes it out, making it much more accessible. One of my fav "black tie affair" frags! Would really like to see Amouage make similar flankers to Memoir, Myths, Epic, and Jubilation XXV.
Banana Republic 78 Vintage Green sounds exceptional as well. Nudge nudge, wink wink

(And yes, that was most definitely a Monty Python reference) :D
