blood
Vienna Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All these scars, they look so clever
I film your footsteps, walking upstairs
We all applaud
Don't let us move on
All so sorry, you're life isn't fair

I filled you up with rocks and snow
So I can hold you tight and never let go

Under your coma
Heat the air
With lies from your mouth in the shape of despair
A sibling with, a knife in your back
Holding on to family, it's too much to ask

I filled you up with rocks and snow
So I can hold you tight and never let go

I filled you up with rocks and snow
So I can hold you tight and never let go

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Vienna's song "Blood" convey a deep sense of pain and betrayal within a familial relationship. The opening lines, "All these scars, they look so clever, I film your footsteps, walking upstairs," suggest that the scars left by past conflicts or betrayals are still visible and impactful. The mention of filming footsteps implies a sense of surveillance or constant scrutiny, indicating a lack of trust or a desire to capture evidence of wrongdoing.

The lyrics continue with "We all applaud, Don't let us move on, All so sorry, your life isn't fair," which suggest a collective response to this situation, indicating that there may be a wider circle of people involved in this story. The singer expresses sympathy but also points out that life isn't fair. This could imply that there is a complex dynamic at play, with different perspectives and motivations among those involved.

The following lines, "I filled you up with rocks and snow, So I can hold you tight and never let go," reveal a contradictory desire: on one hand, wanting to hold the person tight, symbolizing dependency and a desire for connection, while on the other hand, filling them with "rocks and snow" suggests burdening them with emotional weight or pain. This implies that the relationship is both clingy and toxic, with the singer using control as a means to keep the other person close.

The second verse of the song, "Under your coma, Heat the air, With lies from your mouth in the shape of despair, A sibling with a knife in your back, Holding on to family, it's too much to ask," delves into deeper layers of betrayal and emotional manipulation. The mention of a coma metaphorically represents a state of emotional detachment or numbness. The lies and despair coming from the other person's mouth indicate a lack of transparency or honesty in the relationship.

The reference to a "sibling with a knife in your back" suggests that the betrayal comes from within the family, which adds an extra layer of complexity and pain. The final line, "Holding on to family, it's too much to ask," resonates with the struggle of maintaining familial bonds when trust is broken.

Overall, "Blood" explores themes of betrayal, control, and the complexity of relationships within a familial context. It depicts a toxic dynamic where the desire for connection clashes with the burden of emotional weight, leading to pain and mutual damage.

Wow, I was amazed.
First of all, I loved the series; Murder Rooms (The dark beginnings of Sherlock Holmes) with Ian Richardson.

It all started so promisingly... Good charakters with interesting background stories, fascinating cases, wonderful settings...
And then in the second episode, it turned into the same old bland politically correct narrative of the dumb or sinister fashists gaining Power in Austria / Germany. đŸ„±
In Germany, you can‘t Switch on your television set or you wireless without being called to be extra tolerant and super welcoming to EVERYONE! Why is this message also incorporated in a crime story?
I sincerely hope, the third episode is better...

My husband and I found this by mistake. Best mistake we ever made. Excellent series

@Helena Richard Not that you would recognize it. The establishing shots of the center with St. Stefan's cathedral are obviously CGI - they had to be to be historically accurate.
For exterior shots they usually go to some former Eastern Bloc country that still have rows of old, run-down architecture ( Maigret, Charite), even tho IMDB lists Vienna as the shooting location.
Interiors are prob a combination of existing architecture and sound stages.

Really enjoying the series so far, series 2 was very interesting and heartbreaking at the same time with Clara and the Doctor situation.
