Secret Love
Vinson Valega Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love,
Became impatient to be free
So I told a friendly star,
The way that dreamers often do
Just how wonderful you are,
Now, I shout it from the highest hills
Even told the golden daffodils
At last my hearts an open door,
And my secret love's
No secret anymore.
In Vinson Valega's song Secret Love, the lyrics talk about a love that was once hidden and kept secret. The singer had this love inside of them for some time, unable to express it to the one they were in love with. But eventually, the love became too great, and the secret that was being kept could no longer be contained. The singer tells the story of confiding in a friendly star, as dreamers often do, about how wonderful their secret love is and why they are so in love with them. Through this confession, the singer was able to open their heart and share their true feelings, shouting it from the highest hills and even telling the golden daffodils. This secret love is no longer a secret, it has become an open door, allowing the singer to express their love freely and authentically.
The lyrics of Secret Love speak to the experience of holding onto a secret love and the fear that comes with expressing it. Many people can relate to the struggle of trying to keep their feelings hidden, only to find that they must eventually let them out in order to be free. By sharing this story with its listeners, the song also emphasizes the importance of honesty and being true to oneself, even when it feels difficult or scary to do so.
