1. Vistas are an Edinburgh based rock band. Formed in January 2016, they quickly gained momentum in their hometown. Their first single, "Sign Language" was released in the summer, and was quickly followed by the EP, "Medicine". September saw their first gig outside of Scotland in Sheffield.
2017 saw the band take off, picking up traction thanks to singles such as "Hold Me" and "Retrospect" being featured heavily on Spotify's: The Indie List, and Hot New Bands, thanks to their upbeat, catchy riffs. Further exposure in 2018 thanks to BBC Radio 1 and continued support on Spotify for the singles "Calm" and "Tigerblood" cemented Vistas as one of the hottest new bands in the UK. In the Autumn, they embarked on a co-headline tour with fellow newcomers Bloxx.

Eighteen
Vistas Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But then I remember all the worst nights
But I won't feel alone with her
Was it such a bad thing?
A little bit of balance
Meant a little bit of absence
And now I feel alone with her
We were only eighteen
Tell me, do you remember everything?
I made you cry, I made you sing
Back to eighteen, all the times in between
We thought this was more than everything
The joy we felt, the tears we bring
When I reminisce
Where we go, we go wrong
Do you remember midnight?
Like it was the first time?
Reflecting into your eyes
And now I feel alone with her
I guess it was a bad thing
A little bit of balance
Meant a little bit of absence
And now I feel alone with her
Can we go back to eighteen
We were only eighteen
Tell me, do you remember everything?
I made you cry, I made you sing
Back to eighteen, all the times in between
We thought this was more than everything
The joy we felt, the tears we bring
When I reminisce, when we go
Can we go back to eighteen
We were only eighteen
Tell me, do you remember everything?
I made you cry, I made you sing
Back to eighteen, all the times in between
We thought this was more than everything
The joy we felt, the tears we bring
When I reminisce, when I go
When we go wrong, we go wrong
The song Eighteen by Vistas leans into the nostalgia and regret that can come with growing up and reflecting on one's past mistakes. The lyrics convey a sense of longing to go back to a time when things were simpler, specifically when the singer and their partner were 18 years old. The repetition of the line "Can we go back to eighteen?" highlights this desire. However, the song doesn't paint a completely rosy picture of the past. The lines "Sometimes, I remember all the good times/But then I remember all the worst nights" show that there were difficult moments as well.
The chorus of the song, with its repetition of "We thought this was more than everything/The joy we felt, the tears we bring/When I reminisce, when we go/When we go wrong, we go wrong," captures the contradiction between the joy of the relationship and the pain that came with it. The lines "I made you cry, I made you sing" show that the singer was not always a perfect partner and acknowledges that they caused their partner pain.
Overall, the song has a wistful tone, acknowledging that the past cannot be changed but still wanting to revisit it. The lyrics highlight the complexities of relationships and growing up, capturing both the happy and sad moments.
