Green was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and took an interest in singing, playing the piano, and songwriting at a very young age. At the age of thirteen, she became a member of a female quintet called Younique. Green received her big break at the age of nineteen when she became a backing singer for Jill Scott, who took her on an international tour. She was signed to Columbia Records in November 2001. Green released her first album, featuring the hit "Emotional Rollercoaster", in November 2002 in the U.S. and February 2003 in the United Kingdom. Her second album, featuring the first single "Gotta Go, Gotta Leave (Tired)", was released almost three years later, in June 2005. Green was engaged to Erik Tribbet, a drummer from nearby Camden, New Jersey, with whom she has a son named Jordan.
Caught Up

Caught in a mess
Caught up in time
Caught up in less than
Caught up in the things
You only want me to do
Caught up in not doing
I'm caught up in this house
I need to get out
Caught up suffocating deadly
No wonder how
Caught up in a situation
That's nothing but stressful
Caught up thinking this time
I was being careful
How do we get ourselves
So caught up?
'Cause when we look back it was
Never enough
To put up with the foolishness
Never worth much
Crazy situations just
Wreck Heaven
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
Caught up in my head
Caught up in lies
Caught up in telling myself
He's still a good guy
Caught up in the way
The way things looked
Caught up in the holidays
When we were good, yeah
Caught up in my issues
Caught up tryna really love this dude
Caught up in love
When I was the only one loving
Caught up telling myself
Everything's okay
Caught up in this selfishness
Like every single day
How do we get ourselves
So caught up?
'Cause when we look back it was
Never enough
To put up with the foolishness
Never worth much
Crazy situations
Wreck Heaven
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
Caught up, I'm already used to him
Caught up, who wants to start again?
Caught up accepting in the end
Caught up, maybe I'll get a ring
Caught up 'cause he pacified me
With the things he said
Caught up being left up, oh
When he slept in my bed
How do we get ourselves
So caught up?
'Cause when we look back it was
Never enough
To put up with the foolishness
Never worth much
Crazy situations just
Wreck Heaven
How do we get ourselves
So caught up?
'Cause when we look back it was
Never enough
To put up with the foolishness
Never worth much
Crazy situations just
Wreck Heaven
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
Never what you thought it was
When you were so caught up
The lyrics of βCaught Upβ by Vivian Green convey a sense of feeling trapped and confined, both mentally and emotionally. The song expresses how the singer is caught up in life, stuck in a mess and unable to escape it. Sheβs worried about how her relationship is taking a toll on her and how sheβs losing herself in the process. The song highlights the kind of relationships we get stuck in, even when we know it's not worth it.
The first verse speaks of how she feels trapped in her environment and how itβs suffocating her. She also emphasizes how the relationship is hindering her from doing what she likes. The chorus emphasizes how people get so caught up in situations that are not worth it, yet we donβt realize it until it's too late.
The second verse highlights the self-deception we often fall into when weβre in toxic relationships. She speaks of how she tells herself lies that heβs still a good guy, even though she knows he's not. The singer also suggests that she's afraid of starting again and therefore clings onto her partner, hoping things will improve.
Overall, the song stresses the importance of not getting too caught up in relationships and situations that are not worth it. It's a warning to not let ourselves be consumed by negative situations until it's too late.
